Huawei P20 Pro stunned one and all with the first ever triple-lens rear camera setup, but it seems like Apple is ready to follow suit.
According to a report in Taipei Times, Yuanta Securities analyst Jeff Pu says that the company will launch at least one iPhone with a triple camera setup in the second half of next year.
And that’s all Jeff had to say in his research note, with no additional info on the three-lens camera setup that might be the highlight of the most high-end iPhone model next year. The report read,
Pu said Huawei Technologies Co is expected to drive triple-camera lens adoption by introducing a lower-spec device for the Mate 20 model, while Apple is likely to launch a new iPhone model with a triple-lens rear camera in the second half of next year.
Though the details are sparse, a Chinese publication last month had suggested the same and pointed out that the triple camera setup on an iPhone would be capable of 5X zoom, while sporting at least one 12MP lens. The current iPhone models, iPhone X, feature a dual 12MP lens (f/1.8, 28mm) on the rear and allow for 2x optical zoom.
As for Huawei P20 Pro, its triple-camera setup includes a 40MP primary RGB sensor, a secondary 20MP mono sensor and an additional 8MP sensor with a telephoto lens that brings 3x optical zoom functionality in tow. So, it’s possible that 3 cameras on a future iPhone will also enable the same, allowing you to zoom in on the subject without losing quality.
Huawei P20 Pro’s triple camera has already proven its might, clicking 40MP photos and performing exceptionally well in low-light conditions. So, if the analyst’s research note proves to be accurate, we could see a Huawei P20 Pro competitor launch next year.
