In Short
  • HSR Celestial Invitation allows players to customize the 5-star limited banner choices after losing a 50-50.
  • Players can replace three of the standard banner characters with Blade, Fu Xuan, and Seele.
  • After losing a 50-50 pity pull on a limited banner, players will obtain one of the 5-star characters from the customized lineup of Celestial Invitation they have made.

Honkai Star Rail has brought some big changes to its banner system with the introduction of the Celestial Invitation mechanic. This system lets players choose an additional 5-star character they can get when they lose a 50-50 in the banners. HSR Celestial Invitation is an amazing way to secure good pulls from banners, even after losing your pity. Here is a complete guide to help you understand how it works and which characters will give you the most value.

How Does HSR Celestial Invitation Work?

Before we jump into the best characters you should be picking for Celestial Invitation, let’s first understand how it works. When you lose a 50-50, which is basically a 50% chance to obtain the featured character on the HSR banner, you get one of the seven standard banner 5-star characters instead.

Now, these standard banner characters are decent, but most of them have not kept up with the meta. On top of it all, many players already have multiple copies of these characters, so getting them again can be quite infuriating.

The HSR Celestial Invitation adds three limited banner characters in the banner in place of three standard banner characters. Currently, only Blade, Seele, and Fu Xuan can be added with the help of Celestial Invitation, but hopefully, more characters will be introduced later down the line. You can change the character lineup by clicking on the ‘Celestial Invitation’ button on the limited banners. Best Characters to Add From HSR Celestial Invitation

Here is a character priority list based on the current meta for the Celestial Invitation in Honkai Star Rail:

NameReason
BladeBlade is an incredibly strong DPS, and he has absolutely no downsides. He also received some great buffs recently, and he has very strong Eidolons.
Fu Xuan Fu Xuan is still one of the best sustains, even after losing her SS-tier spot. If you already have her, then her eidolons are also pretty worthwhile to get.
BronyaBronya continues to be one of the strongest support units in the game. However, her eidolons are not that strong, so if you already have her, you can remove her from the selector.
SeleeSeele may have fallen off as a DPS, but she is still good enough for most of the challenges in the game. Also, she might be buffed soon, so getting her now would be worthwhile later.
HimekoHimeko is only a decent pick if you don’t have a strong Pure Fiction team. She absolutely stomps Pure Fiction, but otherwise should not be a top pick for HSR celestial invitation.
WeltWelt is a solid character who can work in many teams. However, he doesn’t have one specific team requirement and is always an afterthought.
ClaraClara continues to be a strong DPS, but her damage can be underwhelming unless you have her Eidolons.
BailuBailu is a decent sustain and her ability to revive a dead character is pretty handy. But as she cannot cleanse with her healing, her use case greatly diminishes in the game.
GepardGepard can provide some really good shields, but he can only do so with his Ultimate. This makes him unreliable in big fights as a sustain.
YanqingYanqing is one of the worst 5-star DPS units in the game and should be the last priority.

Now, remember to use the above list as only a reference. It’s best to go for HSR characters that you haven’t gotten yet, unless you are targeting a specific Eidolon. So, what’s your pick for the HSR Celestial Invitation? Let us know in the comments below.
