How to Open Blocked Path in Valor Mortis by Destroying Red Blobs

The very first red blob that players will find after starting the game is past the broken bridge. Players can follow the path on the right at the intersection to find the first blocked path, with a red blob on it. Destroying this red blob in Valor Mortis will open the path. However, players will need to find the Pistol first before they can destroy it.

Once the players find the pistol, they can shoot at the red blobs to destroy them. Other than that, later down the line, the players will find the Rapier weapon, which can also target the red blobs. When you have the Rapier, simply equip it and melee attack a red blob at close range to break it.

Where Can You Get the Pistol in Valor Mortis?

Finding the Pistol in Valor Mortis requires no additional steps other than simply following the main story mission. However, it does come at least after 1 hour of playtime, so players can often mistake that they may have left it behind. Anyone who played the Valor Mortis Steam Next Fest demo will remember that the pistol is obtained at the start of the game. However, this was changed in the final version of the game, leading to the confusion.

To find the Pistol in Valor Mortis, players will have to go past the first interaction with General Lothaire and reach the Valley of Ashes. Once there, here is what they need to do:

• Head down the road, take a turn to the left, and make your way to the plank at the edge of the cliff. Jump right from the suspended plank to swing over to the other side.

• Continue making your way to the other side and take the first left to find a Risen Grenadier blocking your path. You can either defeat it or choose to run past.

• Go past to find a Lantern and the Adjutant Sous-Officier. You can choose to help the officer to start the Valor Mortis ‘An Unheard Farewell’ quest. However, this quest is not needed to find the pistol.
• Run past the lantern and parkour your way down until you reach a stuck carriage.

• Inside the carriage, you will find the pistol. Once you have it, make your way down until you reach another Lantern. From there, you can make your way back by following the main path.

With the Pistol in hand, you can aim it at any red blob and shoot to destroy it. If you want to go back and destroy the first Valor Mortis red blob to open the blocked door, then you can either choose to run back the entire way or wait until the Fast Travel option unlocks. I recommend you choose the second way, as running back and forth can be quite a hassle.
