We just published an article informing our readers about the fact that OnePlus has released Android Oreo for OnePlus 3 and 3T with its OxygenOS 5.0 update. As mentioned in that article, the OxygenOS 5.0 OTA update is being rolled out in stages and the aforementioned devices will receive the update in the coming weeks. However, if you don’t want to wait that long, you can use a hack to get the OxygenOS 5.0 update right now. The hack is very simple and if you want the update right now, here is how to do it:
Install OxygenOS 5.0 Update On OnePlus 3/3T
1. Install a VPN app on your phone. I use TunnelBear, but you can use anyone VPN app. Launch the VPN service and set Canada as the preferred connection country. Now, start the VPN.
2. Open the Settings app and go to System Update. Now, the phone will start looking for any available update. If it’s not doing that automatically, just tap on the button where it says, “Check For Updates”.3. Now, all you need to do is to wait for a few seconds and the update will be shown. Tap on the Download Now button to download and install the update.
After the update has started to download, you can close the VPN app. Don’t worry, the download will not be affected. We only needed the VPN connection to trick the OnePlus updater into showing us the update. That said, you might need to reconnect the VPN when the download is finished, so if you don’t want to do that, you can keep the VPN running throughout the process. Now, all you need to do now is to wait for the update to finish downloading and then install it. After you have done that, do share your thoughts on the update in the comments section below.
It isn’t working . Download completed then when when update process started it shows failed to update .
Can I’do it on my Mi phone?

I have root my Oneplus 3t and have twrp flashed in it.should i have to reflash the stock recovery for updating or will TWRP do the job for updating?.and after update probably the root will go off so will the same method for rooting in nougat work or should i wait for a couple of weeks for root?
Yes, first flash the stock recovery and then lock the bootloader then do the update and then Root and flash TWRP. Mine is a op3 and did this when i updated to Andro7. Didnt root the device because of this hassle with every update!
I think you should wait for a few weeks till a stable root method is released.
How you rooted your oneplus?
