Based on reports, GTA 6 follows a regional midnight release, rather than unlocking simultaneously worldwide. Now that’s easy to remember, but we are here to help you keep a close watch.

Beebom’s GTA 6 countdown timer detects your time zone and local time to adjust the countdown to your country.

Though we have included all major countries in our countdown, do let us know if your country is missing from the list in the comments below. We will promptly update our timer to add the region and reflect the same.

GTA 6 Release Time and Date for Your Region

This means that players in some countries can access the game earlier while others are waiting for their local unlock time. This means spoilers are almost unavoidable unless you hide under a rock (read: stay away from YouTube and X).

The reported PS5 unlock times for GTA 6 include multiple windows, with New Zealand among the earliest regions and parts of Central America among the last.

Check out the GTA 6 unlock time for your country in the table below:

So, you can potentially start exploring GTA 6 locations in Leonida as soon as Wednesday night in some parts of the world. Keep in mind that due to GTA 6 being region-locked on PS5, your console store region and the platform you purchased the game on should match to access it. Since GTA 6 is not region-locked on Xbox, this rule doesn’t apply to those owners.

Moreover, before you head into the game, learn about all the characters in GTA 6, along with all the major locations in the game. You should also read about our dual protagonists, Jason and Lucia, to get a feel for the protagonists and their roles in the story.

Preloading GTA 6 gives all the digital buyers time to download the game ahead of the rush and slow downloads. Since GTA 6 physical copies come with a code inside the box, it will benefit them as well.

But how many GB storage space will you need for GTA 6 on your console?

Although the official GTA 6 preload size has not been confirmed, recent reports suggest that GTA 6 file size will be around 210GB on the PlayStation 5.

The download size on Xbox Series X|S has yet to be confirmed. So, follow our GTA 6 countdown for preload to find out in a couple of weeks.

So until Rockstar posts an official announcement about the GTA 6 storage size, it’s better to avoid treating speculation as the correct figure. If you’re planning to install the game, we suggest that you check your console’s storage and leave some breathing room for updates that might sum up to more than 200 GB.

GTA 6 Story and Setting: Synopsis

While you wait for the GTA 6 countdown timer to reach zero, here’s a quick refresher on what awaits you in Vice City. The game takes place in Leonida, a fictional state inspired by Florida, with Vice City serving as the neon-soaked center of nightlife.

The story follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, the dual protagonists in GTA 6, who plan to achieve an easier lifestyle. However, one of their easier jobs goes wrong, and they both get caught in a conspiracy stretching across Leonida.

Check out the official GTA 6 story synopsis here:

Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.

While Vice City may seem like the center of life, there are several other major GTA 6 locations with contrasting vibes, like suburban streets, coastal communities, swamps, rural areas, and more. This variety will bring up plenty of opportunities for the side missions in the game.

The criminal couple’s relationship in GTA 6 is one of the highlight mechanics, but it doesn’t play a key role in the main campaign. With a unique setting, a mix of criminal schemes, personal drama, and new gameplay systems, like the Focus and weight system, GTA 6 is shaping up to be the biggest entertainment release of the year.
