When it comes to the The Boys universe, expecting the unexpected is expected of us as the audience. For instance, if we look at Gen V Season 2, the newly appointed Dean Cipher has kept his powers a mystery for us to figure out, and speculations are running wild. Some fans think his powers could be quite grand, but what if he has been using his powers all along, and we never truly noticed? What if Dean Cipher’s powers have been in front of us all along? Now, I have a theory that leads me to say this, and I’m fairly certain you’ll find it interesting.

What Could Be Dean Cipher’s Powers?

Now, a while back, a theory surfaced suggesting that Dean Cipher might have psychic abilities, but so far, there are no hints to support that direction. However, certain hints lead us to a slightly different path. Now, if you have noticed, Cipher can figure out outcomes whenever he is met with a situation. Be it Cate confronting him, figuring out who attacked her, or what would happen if she tells Homelander about what happened to her, or Cipher figuring out the full extent of Marie’s powers. He has never been wrong (so far).

This can’t be a coincidence, to predict outcomes with pinpoint accuracy, “Deciphering” them, if you may. I believe that in Gen V Season 2, Dean Cipher’s powers are literally predicting situations and deciphering anything and everything, hence the name “Cipher.”

Gen V seems to be teasing it to us by only referring to him as “Dean Cipher”, which has a similar sound to the word Decipher. Now, if you think it’s a lame power to have, I would like to remind you of how much damage Sister Sage did just because she was smart, and Cipher could pull off something similar at Godolkin.

Now, I want you to remember that this is a theory I came to by connecting the dots we saw in the first three episodes. However, if it turns out to be true, and we find Cipher guilty of these powers, I might just pursue a career in Law Enforcement.
