- Sidekicks are purchasable cosmetic item types that are your companion pets in Fortnite.
- They can be customized only once and permanently assigned a style or name as per your choice.
- Sidekicks are invisible to enemies and immune to any damage during a match.
Fortnite has recently announced its new cosmetic item type called Sidekicks (not to be confused with Kicks), which debuted with Chapter 6 Mini Season 2 (also known as the Simpsons season). These cosmetic items are basically companion pets that follow you around while you try to get a Victory Royale.
The first-ever Sidekick, called Peels, was released with the Simpsons Battle Pass on November 1, 2025, and a lot more have been released since, with some even given out for free if players meet specific criteria. If you’re looking for more info on the Sidekicks, we’ve got you covered right here.
How to Get Sidekicks in Fortnite

You can get Fortnite Sidekicks through two means in the game: Battle Passes and the Fortnite Item Shop. So far, the very first Sidekick, Peels from the Simsons Battle Pass, is the only Sidekick to show up in one of the game’s many passes. Apart from the Battle Pass, players can also acquire these adorable companions through the Fortnite Item Shop and occasional challenges. Sidekicks are generally priced around 1,500 to 1,800 V-Bucks in the Item Shop.
While the price point is quite steep for a sidekick that’s basically a cosmetic companion rather than a functional creature, players might find it out of their budget range for the most part. However, players who own certain back blings can receive new Sidekicks for free. This includes the Fortnite Remus Sidekick, which was granted to all players who owned the OG Remus Pet back bling from the Chapter 1 Season 7 Battle Pass.

How to Customize a Sidekick in Fortnite
Once you’ve gotten your Sidekick from the Fortnite shop or the Battle Pass, it’s time to customize it. Head to your locker and select the Sidekick you’d like to customize.
As soon as you do that, you’ll see an Appearance menu where you can change your Sidekick’s base color, accent color, eye color, and shape of its eyes. You can also press the Randomize button if you’d like a random combination. Once you’ve done that, press Next step.
A new page will pop up, asking you to Lock In your Sidekick’s appearance. Remember, you can customize the appearance of your Sidekick only once, as your choices are permanent. Once you Lock In, you can now name your Sidekick. The name should be well under 16 characters, and you can also randomly generate a name. Your Sidekick’s name will be visible to anyone who can see it.
How Do Sidekicks Work in Fortnite
Sidekicks are companion pets that travel alongside you in a Fortnite Battle Royale or Zero Build match. Think of them like a Back Bling, except Sidekicks walk next to you.
You can actually equip a John Wick skin and assign a Sidekick as his loyal dog while you go on a shooting spree, all the way to Victory Royale. Okay, I know you’re concerned about your Sidekick’s safety. But fret not – Sidekicks are immune to any damage.
Furthermore, they’re completely invisible to your enemies, so be assured that they’re safe from any kind of danger. You can also complete Sidekicks’ quests during a match to unlock some exclusive cosmetics like clothes, a collar, or a bandana for your Sidekick. You can then shuffle between these cosmetics to your Sidekick, as they are not a permanent change.
