Count Ymir Location in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
Unlike most NPCs in the game, Count Ymir stays at one location for the entirety of his quest line. This makes progressing the questline a lot simpler as you don’t have to scour the map all the time to find him. Count Ymir is located in the Cathedral of Manus Metyr.
You can reach the Cathedral of Manus Metyr while on the way to Shadow Keep Church District from the Bonny Village. Simply head south from the Church District Highroad to reach the Cathedral of Manus Metyr Site of Grace. Once there, follow all the steps below in the same order to complete the Count Ymir questline in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
1. Blow the Horn in Finger Ruins of Rhia
When you first meet Count Ymir in the Cathedral of Manus Metyr, he will give you two items:
- First Ruin Map: Shows the Finger Ruins of Rhia
- Hole Laden Necklace: To Blow the Horn in the Finger Ruins.
Make sure to exhaust all his dialogue options until you get both of the above items. After you have received both the items, you need to head to the Finger Ruins of Rhia.
To find Finger Ruins of Rhia, here is what you need to do:
- From the Cerulean Coast Site of Grace, head south until you reach the Cerulean Coast Cross Site of Grace.
- Next, head northeast until you find the Finger Ruins of Rhia Site of Grace.
- Head down to the center of the Ruins to find the horn. After you have found the horn at the center, blow it to complete the first part of Count Ymir’s questline. Blowing the bell will also reward you with the Crimson Seed + 1 Talisman.
2. Blow the Horn in Finger Ruins of Dheo
Head back to Count Ymir in the Cathedral of Manus Metyr and speak with him again. This time he will give you two more items:
- Beloved Stardust Talisman: Shortens casting and incantation speed by utmost, but increases damage taken.
- Second Ruin Map: Shows the Finger Ruins of Dheo
The Beloved Stardust Talisman is given as a reward for blowing the horn in Finger Ruins of Rhia, and the second map is to progress the questline. You can now speak with Jolan in the Cathedral of Manus Metyr and she will tell you that you have earned Count Ymir’s trust and so she will help you.
Note: Jolan will now be available to summon during the Messmer the Impaler boss fight, if you haven’t summoned the Hornsent.
Now, you need to head to the Finger Ruins of Dheo and blow the horn there to progress Count Ymir’s questline. Here is how you can reach the Finger Ruins of Dheo:
- From the Shadow Keep Back Gate Stie of Grace, do the “Oh Mother” gesture before the statue of Queen Marika to unlock the secret passage to the Hinterlands. You can find the “Oh Mother” gesture at the northern corner of the Bonny Village.
- From the Hinterland Site of Grace, move East over the Bridge until you reach the Fingerstone Hill Site of Grace.
- Head to the Center of the Finger Rhuins of Dheo and blow the second horn. You will be rewarded with the Cerulean Seed Talisman + 1 for blowing the horn.
3. Blow the Horn in Finger Ruins of Miyr
Head back to the Cathedral of Manus Metyr and speak with Count Ymir yet again! This time he will give you one item:
Third Ruin Map: Shows Finger Ruins of Miyr.
Rest at the Site of Grace and you will find that Count Ymir is no longer on his throne. He can be found next to Yuri’s grave, in the Cathedral Cemetery. Speak with him and he will tell you that he wants to be left alone.
Now, you need to head to the Finger Ruins of Miyr and blow the horn there to progress Count Ymir’s questline. Here’s how to do so:
- Interact with Count Ymir’s throne to reveal a secret ladder underneath it.
- Climb down the ladder and you will find yourself in the Finger Ruins of Miyr.
- Here the Swordhand for Night Anna will invade you and defeating her will reward you with the Claws of Night weapon.
- Blow the horn at the end of the passage to be teleported away to the Metyr, Mother of Fingers boss fight.
4. Defeat Metyr, Mother of Fingers
Now, you will need to defeat Metyr, Mother of Fingers in the Finger Birthing grounds to progress Count Ymir’s questline. The boss is fairly easy to fight, and here is a quick guide on how to defeat her:
- Strength Weapons deal a lot of damage to Metyr.
- Use Bleed to quickly slice away her health bar.
- Sprint away during her AoE Gravity attacks.
After you have defeated Metyr, Mother of Fingers, you will be rewarded with the Remembrance of the Mother of Fingers.
5. Defeat Count Ymir, Mother of Fingers
Return to the Cathedral of Manus Metyr, enter the main room again, and interact with the Throne. This time Swordhand of Night Jolan will invade you. Defeat her and you will start the Count Ymir, Mother of Fingers boss battle.
Here is how you can defeat Count Ymir:
- Count Ymir is susceptible to melee damage. Go near him and keep striking him until he teleports to another location.
- Continue hitting Ymir in melee range and you will quickly defeat him.
- Ranged attacks are not useful against him.
After defeating Count Ymir, Mother of Fingers, you will receive the following rewards:
- Ymir’s Bell Bearing
- Maternal Staff
- High Priest Hat
- High Priest Robe
- High Priest Gloves
- High Priest Undergarments
Additionally, you can head to Yuri’s grave in the Cathedral’s Cemetery to find the Cherishing Fingers Sorcery.
6. Talk to Swordhand of Night Jolan
After defeating Count Ymir, rest at the Site of Grace and enter the Cathedral’s main area to find Jolan slumped on the pillar.
She will tell you that she cannot see stars anymore. Here you can give her either the Iris of Grace or Iris of Occultation.
- Iris of Grace: Swordhand of Night Jolan becomes a spirit summon.
- Iris of Occultation: Receive the Sword of Night weapon.
