Elden Ring: How to Return to the Lands Between from Shadow Realm

In Short
  • You can switch between the Shadow Realm and Lands Between in Elden Ring whenever possible.
  • You do that by switching between both maps at will.
  • Once you swap between the maps, spawn at a site of grace to leave the map.

With Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC here, it means we are going to spend a lot of time in the Shadow Realm and not return to Lands Between for a while. But what if you’re tired and want to return to the main Elden Ring’s map? So can we switch between both maps at will, or will we be stuck in the new Shadow Realm map of Elden Ring Erdtree map? Well, let’s talk about that.

Can You Return to the Lands Between from Shadow Realm in Elden Ring?

The first question many of us might have before heading to the Elden Ring DLC (which requires you to learn how to beat Mohg and Starscourge Radahn ) is whether you can return to the main game. Maybe you want to beat certain side bosses you haven’t defeated using some new weapons in-game. There might be many reasons to return from Shadow Realms to the main Elden Ring map of the Lands Between.

Fortunately, like any previous FromSoftware DLC for their SoulsBorne games, you can return to the Lands Between from the Shadow Realm. This means you can freely travel from Shadow realms to the Lands Between in Elden Ring whenever and from wherever.

In earlier FromSoftware RPG, you’d have to sit at a Bonfire and fast-travel to and from the DLC area. This was the case for most Dark Souls games. The tradition continues for Elden Ring, with some changes in how you access the Old Map of Lands Between from the Shadow Realms. FromSoftware has made this process easier to fit the game’s open-world nature.

How to Return to the Elden Ring Lands Between from the Shadow Realms Map

Now that you can switch between both maps anytime let’s look at how you do it. Elden Ring still uses the fast-travel system. To return to the Elden Ring Lands Between, follow the steps below:

  • Open up your map using G on your keyboard, Select on an Xbox Controller, and touchpad on Dualsense.
  • Once open, select the “Show Lands Between Map” (press R1/RB/right-click and select RB)
  • Now, you can spawn at any Site of Grace and return to the game’s original map immediately.

That is how you switch between both Elden Ring maps. As you can see, the process itself is quite straightforward. Howrever, you can miss the button prompt if you aren’t mindful. I am ashamed to say it took me 10 minutes to see the actual contextual button prompt on the map before returning to The Lands Between in Elden Ring.
