Since the first clips of Gen V Season 2 hit the internet, questions surrounding Dean Cipher have been piling up one over another. With the release of the first three episodes of Season 2, fans expected some answers about this new character, but the mystery refuses to clear itself. However, we might have a theory that could explain the identity of Dean Cipher, who he is, and his motivations to be at Godolkin. So, let’s take a look at it.
Who Is Dean Cipher Really?

Now, several theories are floating around regarding the identity of Dean Cipher, but the one that stands out the most gives Gen V Season 2 a pretty mind-boggling twist. Some fans claim that Dean Cipher is Thomas Godolkin himself.
Hear me out as I back this theory with some supporting facts. In the series, we see that Aunt Pam instantly recognizes Dean Cipher as “Doctor Gold”, the physician who delivered Marie. This led fans to believe that Cipher does not age. Another theory states that “Dr. Gold” is a take on the surname Godolkin. Now, while this sounds insane, is there any gravity to it?
Is Dean Cipher Actually Thomas Godolkin?
So, if that theory I just mentioned made you scratch your head, let me put things a little bit more into perspective. If we look at the facts, it is rather unlikely that Dean Cipher is actually Thomas Godolkin because we saw Thomas Godolkin in the first scene of Season 2, and he is not the same person as Dean Cipher. However, there is strong evidences that suggest there could be a relation between Thomas and Dean Cipher. As far as my assumption goes, Dean Cipher could be the son or a descendant of Thomas Godolkin in Gen V Season 2.
One of the most definitive hints that points towards this direction is the test, where the students have to fight their way to the red alarm button and press it to stop the fight. This is very similar to when Thomas Godolkin was trapped in the lab with his colleagues and couldn’t pull the fire alarm in time.
We also got to know that Project Odessa had been reopened exactly when Dean Cipher got appointed. On top of that, Cate saw the mysterious vault in Cipher’s house, which could be the place where Project Odessa is being reworked under Cipher’s supervision as a descendant of Thomas Godolkin. If this stands to be true, it would be one of the most insane revelations we have had in Gen V Season 2. So, let’s wait and see what awaits us in the upcoming episodes.
