- Jack Duquesne aka the Swordsman is played by Tony Dalton in both Hawkeye and Daredevil: Born Again.
- In Marvel Comics, the Swordsman was a freedom fighter who was mistaken for a villain and later joined the Avengers as a hero.
- As of now, Jack Duquesne has not adopted the alter ego of the Swordsman, but we can see it happening sometime in the future, considering he has been brought back.
It’s that time of the week, and we finally have two brand new episodes of Daredevil: Born Again. Even though the primary focus of these episodes was on Matt, Wilson Fisk, and Muse, a character who has been missing for quite a while has reappeared. If you are wondering who I am referencing, it’s none other than Jack Duquesne aka the vigilante known as the Swordsman. He has been AWOL after his appearance in Hawkeye, and now that he is back, I believe there is catching up to do. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at who Swordsman is, his Marvel Comics counterpart, and everything else you need to know about him!
Who Plays The Swordsman in Daredevil: Born Again?
Jack Duquesne or the Swordsman is played by actor Tony Dalton in Daredevil: Born Again. This is the second time he has appeared in the role after appearing in Hawkeye for the very first time. He is most well-known for appearing in Better Call Saul.
Who Is Swordsman in Marvel Comics?

Swordsman aka Jack Duquesne made his Marvel Comics debut with The Avengers #19, released in August 1965. Initially, Swordsman was introduced to be a villain, but later on it was revealed that it was just a misunderstanding and he is not evil. In Marvel Comics, Jack Duquesne became a master of wielding a sword after his father’s death and became a freedom fighter in his country. Later on, Jack joined a circus crew where he met a young Clint Barton and trained him as a master archer.
Jack then took up the identity of Swordsman and joined the Avengers as their secret agent to bring down Mandarin. Later on, he earned his spot on the Avengers and became a hero. However, in the MCU, Jack Duquesne has only appeared as a civilian in Hawkeye and now has made an appearance in Daredevil: Born Again.
Has Jack Duquesne Become the Swordsman Yet in MCU?
Talking about Jack Duquesne’s superhero counterpart, sadly, he has not yet adopted the superhero identity of Swordsman. Contrary to his comic book version, MCU’s Jack is wealthy and prefers to enjoy the luxuries of his wealth. Looking at him, it seems that maybe this version of Jack has not been a freedom fighter, even though he is as skilled a swordsman as seen in Marvel Comics.
Considering that he has returned in Daredevil: Born Again, there is a slight chance that this series may bring him in his vigilante avatar, since I don’t see any other reason for bringing him back on screen after his team-up with Kate and Hawkeye. So, let’s wait and see if we finally get to see him as a superhero or not, and till then, stay tuned with us for more updates!
