Dandadan’s first season has officially ended with the release of its final episode today. The finale of Season 1 was everything that we expected and more. It featured some bizarre yet entertaining events that had us on the edge of our seats. However, like every episode of the anime series from Science SARU, episode 12 was also full of mysteries. So, if you are wondering what the ending of the Dandadan finale means, here’s your answer.
Okarun Crosses Paths with Aira Shiratori
One day, while looking for Momo Ayase, Okarun encounters a cute pink-haired girl named Aira Shiratori. Unlike most of the girls in his school, Aira instantly starts acting kind towards him.
However, soon, we discover that the girl just wanted to show other students how pretty and humble she was. While she talks mean things about Okarun in front of her friends, Momo hears everything and immediately uses her powers to teach Aira a lesson. Using her Psychokinesis powers, Momo makes a tub fall on Aira’s head.
Turbo Granny Possesses a Doll
Seiko believes that Okarun is still not freed from the Turbo Granny’s curse, so she asks Momo to bring a doll and put the talisman on it. Then, she hits Okarun with a arisen and asks Momo if she sees anything. Momo says that when Seiko smacked Okarun, the aura inside him changed. Seiko told her to pull the aura out whenever it changed its color.
However, when Okarun again gets hit by Seiko, and Momo tries to do as per her grandmom’s instructions, the aura disappears. The next moment, Okarun, Momo, and Seiko are shocked to see the doll move. The doll starts running, and when Momo finally catches it, she gets terrified, learning that it’s no one but Turbo Granny, whom she and Okarun exorcised before.
Turbo Granny reveals how desperately she is waiting to take revenge on them.
Acrobatic Silky Comes After Aira
One day, Aira explains to her friend that she could see a woman standing in a red dress on the ground. However, her friend can’t get a glimpse of the woman. Later, Turbo Granny reveals the mysterious woman’s arrival to Okarun and Momo. In addition, she also says that she believes any student must have picked up one of the balls of Okarun, and that’s why the yokai arrived on the premises of the school. For the unacquainted, human’s reproductive organs have high spiritual energy, and that’s the reason why the yokai and aliens are obsessed with it.
Aira and her friends try to harm Momo because she hurt the former by dropping the tub on her head earlier. However, before they can harm Momo, Acrobatic Silky arrives and catches Aira. Acro Silky says that Aira is her daughter, so she wants the girl to come with her. Okarun transforms into his devil form and fights the devil. However, the boy gets swallowed by the Yokai while Momo tries to help him.
Later, when Aira misbehaves with Momo, she also gets swallowed by the Acro Silky. Left with nobody to seek help, Momo asks Turbo Granny to back her up. However, the elderly woman’s yokai turns her down by saying that she doesn’t have any powers.
Later, Acro Silky also eats Momo, but the girls light the fire from inside using Aira’s lighter, and as the yokai has put some of her own hair into her mouth, she can’t prevent the consequences. Hence, she vomits Okarun, Momo, and Aira. However, the pink-haired girl remains unconscious, and after checking her pulse, everyone learns that she is dead.
Aira Comes Back to Life
Turbo Granny says that Aira can’t be saved now, but Okarun and Momo don’t give up. Our male protagonist gives her CPR, but the efforts go in vain. When they are about to put their guards down, Acro Silky shows up, and this time, she is in no mood to harm them.
Instead, she offers help and asks Momo and Okarun to transfer her aura to Aira and bring her back to life. The yokai also tears her mouth so that she can win Momo’s confidence that she will not try to eat Aira. While transferring Acro Silky’s aura, Momo discovers her traumatic past before bringing Aira back to life.
Serpo Aliens Show Up Once Again
Next, while sitting in the classroom flooded with water and with no one to be seen around, Okarun gets suspicious. On the other hand, Aira and Momo also face the same situation, and the former believes that the latter is responsible for everything.
Momo encounters a snake-like creature coming towards her. Okarun also gets acquainted with the creature’s arrival by hearing the sound caused by it. He then tells Aira about the experience he and Momo have with the Flatwood Monster. However, before he can head towards the snake to fight, he encounters a crab-headed alien, so he asks Aira to flee. Soon, the Serpo aliens show up, and this time, they have arrived with a new technique called ‘The Awesome Zone.’
The aliens capture Okarun and throw Aira away, believing the latter to be a normal human who isn’t eligible to enter the zone. The aliens want to extract Okarun’s reproductive organs, and the boy feels helpless as he is unable to turn into his demon form. However, when the aliens are about to shred the reproductive organs of the boy, Aira saves him in a new avatar. Okarun realizes that Acro Silky has transferred her powers to the girl.
Momo, Okarun, and Aira struggle to fight these extraterrestrials, but eventually, they win against their enemies. However, even though the situation gets back to normal, they have to flee as every student in the school watches the trio naked in the corridor.
Momo’s Childhood Friend ‘Jiji’ Arrives at Her Doorstep
One night, when conversing with Okarun, Seiko, and Aira, Momo heads to the door after hearing the bell ring. She gets shocked after seeing Jiji standing in front of him. Okarun gets insecure seeing the boy’s cool personality. Seiko tells him that he is Momo’s childhood friend and her first love.
Later, Jiji apologizes to Momo for mocking her at school in childhood. He also reveals that he believes in ghosts, as he can see them now. Jiji also reveals that his house is haunted, which is why he approached Momo’s grandmother. However, Seiko asks Momo to exorcist the ghost that has been causing chaos in Jiji’s life.
Momo and Okarun Heads To Jiji’s Haunted House
Momo, Okarun, and Jiji board the train to the latter’s village. On the way, the trio plays cards, and after that, Momo and Jiji get engaged in a conversation, making Okarun feel left out. Okarun has finally started to develop feelings for Momo, so he gets insecure and starts thinking of ways to attract Momo towards him. So, he starts talking about Tsuchinoko. However, initially, Momo takes interest, but soon, when Jiji says that there is a Tsuchinoko shrine in his village, the girl’s attention gets diverted towards him.
After reaching the destination, Momo enquires about the hot springs in the village. Jiji explains that his father’s line’s job involves research around volcanoes, so they shifted to the village. Momo then asks if the volcano in the village will erupt. Jiji says that it happened 200 years ago, but everything has been fine since then.
The trio reaches Jiji’s home finally, and after sensing nothing fishy, Momo heads toward the hot spring district, leaving Jiji and Okarun behind. The boys start playing soccer while talking about Momo. Soon, they start fighting over who likes the girl more.
On the other hand, Momo gets attacked by the gators in the hot spring. Dandadan season 1 then concludes with Okarun and Jiji discovering an underground room filled with talismans.
