Kliff Macduff is the protagonist of Crimson Desert and is the one you will play for the majority of the game’s content. He is a versatile character, giving players full control over how they mold his abilities. You get complete freedom on what weapons, spells, or skills you want to use on Kliff Macduff. Initially, he does have a sword, a shield, and a bow, which are the three main weapon types in the game. But we have also seen him use polearms and two-handed weapons, so the game won’t strictly limit you to the three weapon types.

When it comes to lore, Kliff Macduff is a mercenary who is trying to fill the power void left behind by the King of Demeniss. The Unifier of Lands has fallen into a coma, and it is Kliff and his band of mercenaries’ job to fix it and bring stability to the lands.

Damiane

Damiane is another Crimson Desert character who will be playable in the game. She is a glass cannon with an agile build, and she can deal insane damage with her rapier and pistol. She has high agility, allowing her to dodge attacks easily. However, Damiane has low HP and banks on her evasiveness to avoid enemy attacks instead of tanking hits. Learn when Damiane becomes playable in the game by following our female character Crimson Desert guide. She should be an ideal pick for all players who prefer a rogue-style glass canon gameplay.

Oongka (The Brute)

Oongka (The Brute) is a strong orc with high damage and defensive ability. He lacks agility, but more than makes up for it with his devastating hits from massive weapons. Oongka focuses on AoE damage, and can easily take out large groups of enemies alone with his two-handed axe. Any gamer who prefers a strong build will prefer using Oongka over Daminae in Crimson Desert.

How to Switch Characters in Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert follows a character-switching mechanic straight out of GTA 5. Those who played that game would remember that switching characters was allowed at any moment once the characters were unlocked. That is also the same for Crimson Desert, as you can switch between the characters whenever you want, as long as they are unlocked and the main questline isn’t preventing you from doing so. With that said, here are the steps to switch characters in Crimson Desert:

  • To switch characters, press the tab key to open the character wheel and select the character that you want to switch to.
  • The game will now take you to where the character is currently located, instead of swapping right where you are.
  • Now you can continue exploring the area as the other character freely.
