Call of Duty’s long-standing legacy of annual releases is all set to continue with the upcoming Black Ops 7. Developed by Treyarch, the title serves as a follow-up to Black Ops 2’s narrative and will incorporate some of the more futuristic elements of the franchise. Its integration with Warzone is sure to bring fresh content to the BR as well, including a brand-new map at some point in the future. Ahead of its gameplay reveal at Gamescom, we’ve put together a guide on everything to know so far about Black Ops 7, including its leaked release date, pricing, and more.
Black Ops 7 Release Date (Leaked)

According to leaks from reliable sources, Black Ops 7 will hit the shelves on November 14, 2025. This would make it the latest release in Call of Duty history, edging out Black Ops Cold War by just one day. Judging by Activision’s standard schedule, we’re likely to see their trademark CoD Next event take place in September, followed by the Open Beta.
Keep in mind that these details are yet to be confirmed, but we’ll be sure to update them once official information is released.
Black Ops 7 Platforms
Black Ops 7 will be available across these platforms:
- PS5
- PS4
- Xbox Series X/S
- Xbox One
- PC (via Steam and Battle Net)
Activision are sticking with last-gen consoles as a launch platform, and it’s easy to guess why. Interestingly enough, Black Ops 7 will reportedly skip the Nintendo Switch 2, despite Microsoft’s 10-year legal agreement related to Call of Duty games appearing on the Switch.
Black Ops 7 Price & Pre-Orders
Following The Outer Worlds 2’s $80 pricing debacle, Microsoft are reeling in their ambitions for hiked game prices. As a result, all signs point towards Black Ops 7 maintaining its base price of $70, with the Vault Edition costing $100. While pricing details are yet to be confirmed officially, we already know about the game’s pre-order bonuses thanks to datamined info from the Black Ops 6 Season 5 files. Learn more about them in our dedicated guide.
Black Ops 7 Story & Setting

As mentioned at the start, Black Ops 7 serves as a narrative sequel to Black Ops 2. The game is set in 2035, nearly a decade on from BO2’s events, and stars David Mason in the lead role. The world is at the brink of chaos once again, and somehow, Raul Menendez is back. The shadowy antagonist is confirmed to appear in the game, but it’s unclear whether he has been resurrected or is living on as a hallucination in David’s mind.
The narrative revolves around a weapon manufacturer named The Guild, which is an offshoot of the Avalon-based weapons trafficking group from Black Ops 6. Now led by CEO Emma Kagan, The Guild positions itself as the good guy of futursic surveillance and advanced arms manufacturing. As stated in their very own Forbes feature, “We don’t collect what we don’t need. Our systems are designed to safeguard, not surveil. Our mission is to protect when conventional safeguards fall short.”
Their vast arsenal of robotic defence machinery appears to be facilitating peacekeeping efforts around the world. But you get the sense that this is a synthetic veneer over a much more insidious organisation that David Mason and his team will be eager to unravel.
Black Ops 7 Gameplay Details

Official details on BO7’s gameplay are scarce at the moment, since all we have to go off on is the cryptic reveal trailer. That trailer did give us a look at the long-rumored Avalon map, which, according to leaks, will be present in a large-scale Skirmish mode. Players will be able to use wingsuits to navigate the map, and we’ll likely hear more about the new mode during the gameplay reveal.
Speaking of leaks, the Call of Duty app accidentally revealed a few screenshots from BO7, providing players with details on both Skirmish and another new game mode titled Overload. It also offered a glimpse at the title’s mil-sim, sci-fi setting, complete with a potential look at returning weapons such as the Cordite and the DoubleCross AR.
As for movement, Activision have already confirmed that jetpacks and wall-running will not be returning in Black Ops 7. The game will instead feature “an evolution of omnimovement,” and possibly a Wall Jump mechanic, which will let players “leap from surfaces for new ways to engage.”
The last matter to touch on in this section are the leaked maps and remasters. As we covered earlier, Black Ops 7 will offer 16 6v6 maps at launch, with three returning maps in Hijacked, Raid, and Express. Alongside this, the title will offer two large-scale 20 v 20 Skirmish maps. And in terms of post-launch support, “content is expected to be plentiful.”
Black Ops 7 Co-Op Campaign
As confirmed by Activision, Black Ops 7 will offer a “thrilling and innovative” Co-Op campaign, allowing up to four players to experience it together. Aside from protagonist David Mason, here are the other three leaked cast members:
- Mike Harper
- Eric Samuels
- Chloe “Karma” Lynch
We’re now about to dip into spoiler territory, so here’s your warning. According to an Insider Gaming report, the campaign’s 12th and final mission will take place in the open-world Avalon map as part of a 32-player multiplayer experience. This will be a first for the franchise, and its format reportedly mirrors that of an extraction shooter. That sums up everything we know about the mission, and we’ll probably need to wait until release to see how the new experience plays out.
Black Ops 7 Zombies

No Black Ops game is complete without Zombies, and the reveal trailer confirmed that the beloved mode will be returning in BO7. It’s set to be round-based once again, and will feature a TranZit remaster, which amps up the scale and comes with a transport system.
According to rumors, BO7 Zombies could be aiming to release six maps throughout its annual cycle, with maps set in Afghanistan, Vietnam, and a Dark Aether space station potentially on the cards. A post-WW2 map that shows New York in disarray following a Nazi nuclear detonation is also reportedly in the works. Of course, these details are yet to be confirmed, so take them with a grain of salt.
And that wraps up our guide on everything to know so far about Black Ops 7. With the gameplay reveal on the horizon, we’ll be updating this article with new information as soon as it’s revealed, so make sure to bookmark it. And let us know if you’re excited for Call of Duty 2025 in the comments.
