Extraction shooters are always fun for plenty of reasons, but one that always stands out is when there is a solid PvE element. In that regard, Marathon shines more than others. With some of the most intelligent AI implemented, your life in Tau Ceti IV has more challenges than just having some human foes around. So, before you jump in with your strong loadouts in Marathon, check our list of all confirmed enemies you will see in Bungie’s Marathon here.
1. UESC Recruits

These basic enemy bots in Marathon are all around the map, patrolling the surrounding areas. While they usually avoid contact, if you are in sight, they go in guns blazing. Oh, they can also fly, so watch your step when running to higher ground. The UESC recruits are some of the easiest enemies to deal with. However, once they group up, you might get cornered unless you have some backup. Some of these common troops can even drop high-rarity items.
2. UESC Assault Trooper

Similar to the UESC recruits, assault troopers don’t overreact in conflict. However, they are quite a bit harder to defeat. When you initially hit them, they will have a default armor that takes time to deplete. On top of that, they have a shield similar to Locus’s in Marathon. This gives them additional cover. So, make sure you sandwich attack these Marathon enemies.
3. UESC Assault CMDR
Unlike the trooper, the CMDR version of the assault enemies is much more violent. Dealing with them will require a lot of hide and seek unless you go in all guns blazing with your friends. Just make sure to search well after defeating one. They can drop some valuable goods.
4. UESC Ghost

This is where the difficulty starts piling up. The UESC ghosts are one of the enemies that resemble the fighting style of the Marathon runner Void. Yes, they can go invisible using a cape on their back. While they have a slightly lesser detection range before you come into contact, once they find you, it’s war. They can go invisible and attack you out of thin air. It is better to keep your friends around before engaging with multiple UESC ghosts.
5. UESC Grenadier

Much like the UESC troops, these grenadiers specialize in mayhem. And well, what’s better than throwing grenades when you want chaos? While dealing with them is not that hard, if you are already engaged with human enemies, a nearby grenadier can spoil the party.
6. UESC Grenadier CMDR

Although the name of the next Marathon enemy contains “grenadier,” it also includes “commander.” And, well, it hits hard. But the harder thing to deal with regarding this strong NPC in the game is its resilience. The grenadier CMDR has a thick skin, so proceed with caution. But if you can defeat it, you will get some valuable loot.
7. UESC Scout CMDR

Another CMDR on our list appears, but this one can track you from far away. Already coming with a hardened skin, the UESC scout CMDRs are a species of enemies in Marathon that can be more brutal than a human player. They not only come with solid resilience and long-range snipers, but going near them can get you caught in a blast attack emitted by the enemy. Make sure you stay away from these enemies on the Marathon map.
8. Ticks
Ticks are the equivalent of spiders from Apex Legends. These pesky little enemies will crawl around the map, and as soon as they see you, they will come crawling. Well, the good thing is that the Marathon runners are too strong for these creatures.
9. Birds

The Toucans, aka the Birds, are one of the most avoidable enemies in Marathon. Yes, you can kill them and get loot. However, if they sense you nearby, they fly away quicker than you can even ready your guns in Marathon.
That ends our list of all the confirmed enemies in Marathon so far. Which enemy are you finding hard to defeat? Let us know in the comments below.
