Black Ops 6 Season 4: Best Assault Rifle Loadouts

Black Ops 6 multiplayer is filled with a diverse set of maps, ranging from close-range arenas like Nuketown to more expansive battlegrounds like Scud. And while you can tackle matches with different kinds of weapons, none of them offer the versatility of Assault Rifles. These reliable weapons can dish out consistent damage across all ranges, with the best-in-class guns offering minimal recoil. While BO6 features a wide selection of ARs, only a few of them are actually worth sinking time into. With this in mind, we’ve put together a list of the best Assault Rifles in Black Ops 6 alongside their meta loadouts.

1. Krig C

  • Optic: Kepler Microflex
  • Muzzle: Compensator
  • Barrel: Reinforced Barrel
  • Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
  • Magazine: Extended Mag I

After the release of Season 3 Reloaded, a mid-season buff effectively bumped the Krig C up to the top of the BO6 AR meta. Its qualities were polished even further in the Season 4 update. While the weapon doesn’t offer the fierce TTK figures of CR-56 AMAX or the AK-74, it makes up for it through excellent mobility.

It’s also a viable weapon across all ranges, especially if you want a rapid fire rate that remains easily manageable. For all these reasons, and more, the Krig C is currently the best Assault Rifle in Black Ops 6.

2. FFAR 1

  • Optic: Kepler Microflex
  • Muzzle: Compensator
  • Underbarrel: Ranger Foregrip
  • Magazine: Extended Mag 1
  • Rear Grip: Commando Grip

The fully-automatic FAMAS has returned and is still as dominant as ever. Released as part of Season 4, the FFAR 1 has wasted no time in leapfrogging to the top of the BO6 meta. Its lethal combination of a blistering fire rate and impressive TTK can rip through opponents. The weapon’s rapid fire rate also makes it more forgiving, giving it an extra edge in terms of accessibility.

That said, its base mobility is rather clunky. This drawback immediately stands out when you compare it with the Krig C and AMES 85. So, make sure to use our recommended loadout after leveling it up.

3. CR-56 AMAX

  • Muzzle: Compensator
  • Barrel: Reinforced Barrel
  • Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
  • Rear Grip: Commando Grip
  • Fire Mods: Rapid Fire

There isn’t much to say about the CR-56 AMAX that isn’t already well known. The weapon earned quite a reputation during its days of wreaking havoc in OG Verdansk, and its latest iteration retains almost all of those traits.

The AMAX is still ridiculously powerful at close ranges while packing enough of a punch for engagements beyond the 40m mark. It previously sat at the very top of this list, but mid-season nerfs to its mobility and headshot multiplier mean that the weapon has to settle for second place. Nevertheless, it remains one of the best Black Ops 6 guns you can use.

4. XM4

  • Optic: Kepler Microflex
  • Muzzle: Compensator
  • Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
  • Rear Grip: Commando Grip
  • Stock: Infiltrator Stock

The XM4 is an accurate jack-of-all-trades weapon that offers top-notch balance across almost every department. Its accessibility makes it the ideal weapon for newcomers to start with, while its laser-like precision and damage output make it a solid pick for players in a Prestige cycle. With that being said, the AR’s versatility is what really sets the weapon apart, as it can gel seamlessly with any playstyle

It lags behind the Krig C and the AMAX purely due to lower TTK figures, but don’t let that discourage you from giving it a chance.

5. Model L

  • Optic: Kepler Microflex
  • Muzzle: Suppressor
  • Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
  • Rear Grip: Ergonomic Grip
  • Fire Mods: Recoil Springs

The Model L is similar to the XM4 in many ways, with both weapons offering unrivaled accuracy and minimal recoil. On top of this, the Model L also boasts exceptional bullet velocity, making it adept at medium-range engagements. However, where the AR falls off is in the fire rate department, especially when compared to the meta picks. You’ll also find the damage output lacking, which is why the Model L lands at the fifth spot on our list of the best Black Ops 6 ARs.

6. Kilo 141

  • Optic: Volzhskiy Reflex
  • Muzzle: Compensator
  • Underbarrel: Ranger Foregrip
  • Magazine: Extended Mag I
  • Rear Grip: Ergonomic Grip

The Kilo 141 made its Black Ops 6 debut in Season 3, but CoD veterans have long been familiar with the classic Warzone weapon. Just like in MW 2019, the Kilo 141 ranks high among the most accessible and accurate weapons in the game. When paired with the meta attachments, you’ll essentially be working with zero recoil, making the AR a breeze across all ranges.

With that being said, the Kilo’s damage output leaves more to be desired. A Season 4 buff did lead to an increase in bullet velocity, but its fire power still pales in comparison to the meta ARs, especially when it comes to close-range combat where players often resort to strafing. But if you can compromise on this front, it’s one of the most reliable weapons available in the game.

7. AK-74

  • Optic: Accu-Spot Reflex
  • Muzzle: Compensator
  • Barrel: Reinforced Barrel
  • Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
  • Fire Mods: Recoil Springs

The AK-74 in BO6 has been dominant in Black Ops 6 multiplayer since the open beta, thanks to its signature firepower that can obliterate enemies up close. It’s practically the whole reason why players put up the weapon’s kick.

That said, the weapon was hit with some significant nerfs in the Season 3 Reloaded update, including crucial reductions to its damage multipliers and ADS speeds. A bullet velocity buff in Season 4 helped counter these changes, but it still doesn’t compensate for the lack of stability. Due to these adjustments, the AK-74’s stock has dropped in the meta. But its impressive TTK figures still make it worth using.

8. AS VAL

Image Credit: Activision/Black Ops 6 (screenshot by Aryan Singh, Beebom)
  • Barrel: Suppressed Reinforced Barrel
  • Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
  • Stock: Infiltrator Stock
  • Magazine: Extended Mag II
  • Fire Mods: Recoil Springs

The AS VAL can be really frustrating to level up, primarily because of its low ammo capacity. The constant reloading can throw a real spanner in the works of players looking to earn attachments for the weapon.

However, the grind is almost certainly worth it, especially if you’re looking to leverage the AS VAL’s close-range damage output. While its recoil will be slightly unwieldy, no matter what combination of attachments you slap on, the TTK figures do help make up for it. In short, the AS VAL is a bit of an acquired taste, but one we encourage you to try out for yourself.

9. Goblin Mk2

Image Credit: Activision/Black Ops 6 (screenshot by Aryan Singh, Beebom)
  • Optic: Volzhskiy Reflex
  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Barrel: Gain-Twist Barrel
  • Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
  • Magazine: Extended Mag II

The Goblin Mk2 is the only semi-automatic AR on the list, but its placement isn’t solely because of that. The weapon offers a relatively stable recoil pattern, decent handling, and some serious power behind its three-round bursts. However, the semi-automatic nature means that the fire rate will always be on the lower side, meaning the Goblin MK2 can easily get outgunned by the AMAX or Krig C.

What really makes the weapon noteworthy is the recently added Mini Rocket Conversion Mod, which turns the AR into a fully-automatic rocket launcher. While the mod isn’t ideal for every combat scenario, it’s still pretty fun to use.

That wraps up our list of the best Assault Rifles in Black Ops 6 Season 4. While you’re here, be sure to check out our ranking of the best SMG loadouts as well.
