1. Shogun

Shogun is by far one of the most loved period drama series. This show takes us to 17th-century Japan and tells us the tale of John Blackthorne, an English sailor who has found his way to the coast of Japan. Initially, he was seen as a threat but grew to be a close ally of Yoshii Toranaga, who was trying to pave his way to the top of the ruling class in Japan and become the Shogun.

Whether you look at it from a storytelling or cinematic perspective, this show is an absolute masterpiece. If you are slightly skeptical about watching it thinking Shogun to be just another political drama, trust me when I say it, there is nothing ” Just another” about this show.

2. The Bear

The Bear revolves around Carmen Berzatto, a brilliant chef who has been working at highly sophisticated and top-end Michelin-star restaurants all his life. However, Carmen is forced to return home to his family after a shocking death. He takes up the responsibility of running his local family sandwich shop and the whole story of the show revolves around him adjusting and finding his way around this life and getting used to the company of new people around him. With the recently released The Bear Season 3, the show has reached an all-time high in intensity level.

This Hulu Original series is based on Rebecca Godfrey’s book of the same name and inspired by true events. Under the Bridge takes us back to 1977. The show explores the disappearance and murder of a 14-year-old girl named Reena Virk who was returning home after attending a party. This show brings in all the elements you can expect from something based on grave themes. Under the Bridge is probably one of the best book adaptations you will witness, so give it a shot.

4. The Handmaid’s Tale

The Handmaid’s Tale takes us to a terrifying dystopian world where the United States of America has been taken over by a religion-based autocracy and is renamed Gilead. In this autocracy, women are treated as second-class citizens.

Among all this, a woman named June and her family are caught trying to escape and as a punishment, she was sentenced to be a Handmaid. As a handmaid, her job was to bear children for government officials who were childless. Will she ever make it out of there? Watch The Handmaid’s Tale to find out.

5. Castle Rock

Castle Rock is a psychological horror show set in the Stephen King multiverse. The whole series takes place in the fictional town of Castle Rock where some of the most acclaimed and loved works of Stephen King are brought to life in the show’s adaptation.

There is not much to elaborate about this show since the episodes here are not exactly one full story but different in each episode. So, if you are someone who has been a fan of Stephen King’s books, this Hulu Original show will do justice to your favorite books.

If you enjoyed watching Bridgerton, you will certainly enjoy watching The Great as well. This show is a satirical comedy loosely based on the rise of Empress Catherine the Great of Russia to power. In this series, we see a young Catherine arrives in Russia to get married to Peter III.

However, after she gets married to him, she realizes that Peter is a selfish and spoilt brat who does not care about anything except for himself. This series has its ups and downs but overall is a really fun watch that you can enjoy when you wish to watch something fun and not too complicated.

7. How I Met Your Father

After the raging success of How I Met Your Mother, a spinoff series was released with the title of How I Met Your Father. This show kicks off in a distant future where Sophie is talking to her sons, taking them back to 2021, and telling them the tale of how she met their father.

The setting of the show is pretty similar to HIMYM and so are the characters. Maybe this is the reason this show has only two seasons but in my opinion, this show was quite fun to watch with some cameos of the original cast.

Life and Beth tells us the story of Beth, whose life seems pretty sorted upfront. She is a successful wine distributor, has a long-term relationship and everything seems to be going great. However, when her mother passes away suddenly, she realizes that she is not really happy with her life and embarks on an emotional journey to take charge of her life once again.

If you are someone who is suffering from an identity crisis, this series will provide comfort to you and will reassure you that it’s never too late to take charge of your life and start over.

9. Solar Opposites

Solar Opposites is an animated show created by the same artist who brought us Rick and Morty. This show brings us a dysfunctional alien family who come to death after their home planet was destroyed by an asteroid. Settling down in Central America, these aliens are in a dilemma as to whether they should consider Earth as their home or was life better on their home planet.

This series contains some dark humor and a pretty Rick and Morty-like approach. So, if you are someone who is a Rick and Morty fan, you are going to love the experience of watching Solar Opposites.

Hulu has a pretty big catalog of live-action adaptations of Stephen King’s novels. However, while most of them are horror, this Hulu Original show here revolves around time travel. A recently divorced teacher named  Jake Epping finds a portal that sends him back in time to October 21st, 1960. The man who led him to the portal then tells Eppings that he must go back in time and prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

However, his mission gets slightly sidetracked when he falls in love with a woman at a time he is not supposed to be in. This series was produced by J.J. Abrams and Stephen King so you know that I’m not kidding when I say that this is one of the best Hulu Original shows you will ever watch.
