- The Beavis and Butt-Head Operator skins are causing issues in Call of Duty Black Ops 6 multiplayer mode.
- The reason behind the problem is an awkwardly placed hitbox that sits near the necks, meaning shots above the chin inflict no damage.
- Annoyed by the hitbox issue, Call of Duty players online have labeled the skins as "pay to win."
The recently released Beavis and Butt-Head skins are causing a ton of clamor in the Black Ops 6 community, and not for the usual ‘Fortnitification of CoD’ reasons either. Based on the animated show of the same name, the Beavis and Butt-Head Operators have been deemed as ‘Pay to Win’ by many players for a very specific reason.
For the unacquainted, the iconic duo made their Call of Duty debut as part of the Season 4 Reloaded update. Both Beavis and Butt-Head received skins alongside their very own in-game event as well as a paid bundle. The skins themselves are modeled around the characters’ likenesses and even use the same cartoony animation style. This includes their giant-sized heads that stick out like a sore thumb when compared to the rest of Black Ops 6’s Operator roster.
Players were quick to highlight their exaggerated heads when the crossover was initially announced, pointing to the hitbox issues they could potentially cause. At the time, many assumed that players using the Beavis and Butt-Head skins would be at a disadvantage since their massive heads would make for easy targets. In practice, this hasn’t been the case at all, since the giant heads are soaking up headshots due to an awkwardly placed hitbox.
The clips of this problem in action have been circulating online, as seen in this popular Reddit post shared by u/Volanologist2. In the gameplay clip, the player fires two precise shots aimed at Butt-Head’s noggin, but the damage isn’t registered since the hitbox is placed near the Operator’s neck. This discrepancy between the skin’s design and the hitbox placement has enraged many players, who flooded the comments section to voice their annoyance.
“Beavis and butthead has disproportionately large heads, but the same hitbox as everyone else. Most cartoon characters have odd proportions. This is why cartoon characters don’t belong in a FPS. Creates wtf moments like these,” stated one user. Their sentiments were shared by another player, who chimed in saying, “This explains why I’ve hated this entire event. I miss all the shots cause their bodies are so weird. It’s kinda like a paid buff like the Terminator Skeleton.”
A comment with over 200 upvotes chalked the issue up to “bad game design,” with players calling for future character models to share the same size.
Of course, there was no shortage of complaints aimed at Call of Duty’s recent streak of crossovers. Over the past few months, we have seen pop culture figures such as Seth Rogen, the Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles, and Ballerina from the John Wick universe join Black Ops 6. This departure from a more traditional mil-sim aesthetic has never sat well with a vocal section of the community. And the issues caused by the Beavis and Butt-Head skin appear to be fueling that narrative.
It will be interesting to see how the fanbase reacts to the upcoming American Dad crossover. With that said, are you facing similar hitbox issues in Black Ops 6? Let us know in the comments section below.
