Within only two months of the launch of its entry-level ZenFone Max M1 in India, Asus is looking to one-up the ante and has today launched its successor, the ZenFone Max M2 in the country as well. It made its debut alongside the much-awaited ZenFone Max Pro M2 and looks pretty familiar, yet appealing.

The base variant of the ZenFone Max M2 has been priced starting at Rs 9,999 for the base 3GB + 32GB, whereas the higher-end version with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at Rs 11,999.

Asus ZenFone Max M2 Specs

If you’ve already taken a look at the design of the ZenFone Max M2, you know that it’s a mishmash of the two ZenFone Max Pro smartphones launched this year. The device packs exactly the same rear panel design as the ZenFone Max Pro M1 and the new display with a notch on the front.

The ZenFone Max M2 includes the same 6.3-inch IPS LCD display as the Max Pro M2 and you wouldn’t be able to tell them apart from the front. But, the resolution here has been bumped down to 1520×720 pixels.

The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 632 chipset, which is a step up from the Snapdragon 430 chipset in the ZenFone Max M1. It’s the same chipset that we have recently seen in the budget Honor 8C.

In the camera department, the ZenFone Max M2 includes a dual rear-camera module with a 13MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor, along with an 8MP camera for selfies. The biggest change, however, will have to be the switch from ZenUI on ZenFone Max M2 to almost stock Android 8.1 Oreo as the ZenFone Max Pro lineup.
