October is going to be a busy month for gamers, and while many great titles are launching in quick succession, Alan Wake 2 has managed to attract quite the attention. Remedy’s sequel to 2010’s Alan Wake will continue the struggles of everyone’s favorite horror writer while also introducing a new character. With the recent IGN exclusive confirming the game to usher in the era of Remedy’s Connected Universe (RCU), many have questioned whether this game will connect with Control 2.
Sam Lake of Remedy Entertainment Confirms Ties Between Alan Wake 2 and Control 2
Sam Lake, the creative director and writer of Alan Wake 2, the face model of the character Alex Casie, and a coffee enthusiast confirmed its ties with Control 2. In a recent interview with WCCFTech, Lake confirmed Alan Wake 2 to lay the foundations for the upcoming Control 2. This confirms that their plans for the Remedy Connected Universe are in motion.
“Yeah. It’s interesting. We did that in a very clear way with Control, especially with the AWE DLC, setting up things,” he said. The thing Lake is talking about is the AWE expansion for Control. In it, they officially confirmed the Alan Wake and Control universe to take place in the same timeline. In this case, Alan’s experience at Bright Falls is an altered world experience that the FBC (Federal Bureau of Control) of Control gets to know about.
“We have publicly announced that we are working on Control 2, and like you saw, the FBC does play a key role in the Alan Wake 2 story.” He ends the answer by saying that while they are not confirming anything, they are setting things up for future RCU titles. The interview also covers some interesting questions about the upcoming Alan Wake 2 and Control 2 games.
