Never Skip Bad Endings in Honkai Star Rail: Here’s Why

Honkai Star Rail is known for its humor and one of the funniest interactions in the game happens with alternate endings. These endings appear when the player chooses an option that is completely one-eighty from the main story they are supposed to play, which then leads to a fake cast roll at the end. As the bad endings make you replay the dialogues, and the fact that the options triggering them are most of the time morally questionable, many players decide to skip them and simply follow the story.

However, one player named Doctor W on Hoyolab shares a very good reason why you should never skip bad endings in Honkai Star Rail. Other than being extremely funny, these bad endings also offer a certain insight into the story, hinting at possible plot twists. What are these insights we are talking about? Let’s have a closer look.

Bad Endings Often Reveal Hidden Character Motives in HSR

One of the main reasons why you should never skip a bad ending in Honkai Star Rail is that it hints at hidden character motives and helps you connect the dots before the major reveal. One example of this is how the true identity of characters like Acheron, Firefly, Gallagher, and Misha are hidden during the fake credit rolls. Later, we learn that Firefly is Sam, Acheron’s true name is Raiden Bosenmeri Mei, and Misha is the Watchmaker.

Similarly, March 7th’s identity has remained hidden from the start of the game in such credit rolls, showing how important her character backstory is going to be in the future. We are also seeing this in the Amphoreus arc, with Phainon appearing as unknown, and Castorice appearing as Castorice but with an added question mark.

This all points towards how Phainon and Castorice have more to reveal in the upcoming versions. Phainon is already confirmed to be using a fake name, while Castorice is said to have a sister.

Also, the bad ending in Amphoreus 3.0, which triggers after the Trailblazer chooses to leave Amphoreus, mentions that Black Swan left the Astral Express mysteriously. This means that Black Swan’s only business with Astral Express was for Amphoreus, and there is also a possibility that she has entered Amphoreus herself, making her disappear from the express.

Bad Endings in Honkai Star Rail Reveal Future Plotlines

Another big reason why you should never skip bad endings in Honkai Star Rail is that they reveal interesting information about future plotlines. For example, the bad ending in Amphoreus reveals that March 7th’s sickness only becomes worse after Trailblazer and Dan Heng’s return to the Express. This means that the solution behind March 7th’s sickness will likely be in Amphoreus itself, further boosting the theory of her being one of the hidden Chrysos Heirs.

Furthermore, Amphoreus’ bad ending is the only time we haven’t seen Elio’s name mentioned in the Credit rolls. This means Amphoreus is not part of Elio’s script or Elio doesn’t know about Amphoreus. Both can be true as even Akivili never trailblazed into Amphoreus. So, we won’t likely see an involvement of the Stellaron Hunters in Amphoreus, until the world opens up to the outside later in the story.

Tell us what you think about bad endings in Honkai Star Rail and whether they are worth the time for you. Also, share any wild theory you have on Amphoreus in the comments, as we love reading those as well.
