Amy the Hedgehog appears for the first time in Sonic CD. She is romantically interested in Sonic and is probably the most enthusiastic and positive character in the game. Even though she does not have powers similar to Team Sonic, she wields a pink hammer called the Piko Piko Hammer compensating for the lack of superpowers.

The design of Amy has been changed multiple times throughout time but the basic avatar for the character stayed the same. Since she joined Team Sonic, she has appeared in almost every Sonic video game but has not always been a playable character.

In Sonic CD, Amy makes it pretty obvious that she is interested in Sonic but he is always ignorant of her liking. That is, unless Amy gets kidnapped by Metal Sonic, Sonic along with his friends saves her from captivity. As of now, we only got the first look at Amy and since we have also been introduced to Metal Sonic, there is a possibility that the next film may take inspiration from this game.
