When Will Fortnite Downtime Begin for 40.40?

The downtime for Fortnite Update 40.40 will begin on May 14, 2026, at 4 AM ET. Like any other update, Fortnite servers will be down, and matchmaking will be disabled approximately 30 minutes before the official downtime begins. If you opened your Epic Games Launcher on PC, you would have noticed the text “Server Offline” under the Fortnite tile.

How Long is Fortnite Downtime Today?

The downtime today for the 40.40 update will last for around 2-3 hours while Fortnite servers remain offline. Epic will use the downtime to add the new Fortnite Overwatch collab and the new Rivalry Milestones for Act 3 of the Showdown event.

When Will Fortnite Servers Be Back Up for Update 40.40?

Fortnite servers will be back up around 7 AM for update 40.40, if the maintenance goes through without any technical issues or bugs. At this point, the “Server Offline” message in the Epic Games Launcher should disappear, and you can log in to experience everything Epic has added with the update.
