When Will Fortnite Downtime Begin for 40.20?

The downtime for Fortnite Update 40.20 will begin on April 16, 2026, at 4 AM ET. Like any other update, Fortnite servers will be down, and matchmaking will be disabled approximately 30 minutes before the official downtime begins. If you opened your Epic Games Launcher on PC, you would have noticed the text “Server Offline” under the Fortnite tile.

How Long is Fortnite Downtime Today?

The downtime today for the 40.20 update will last for around 2-3 hours while Fortnite servers remain offline. Epic will use the downtime to add Showdown Act 2 to Chapter 7 Season 2, while also finally transitioning Fortnite Save the World to a free-to-play mode.
