At the Anime NYC 2025 event last year, Netflix shared a new featurette of Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 with the “Coming Soon” tag. Earlier, various sources reported that Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 would be released in 2026, but it seems that this is no longer the case. It is because the second season of Blue Eye Samurai wasn’t present in the Netflix 2026 slate, which the streaming giant revealed at the start of 2026.
Out of the 110 series releasing this year, Blue Samurai Season 2 isn’t confirmed for release anytime this year. When you think about it, Netflix revealed that Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 had only entered production in August 2025, two years after its premiere. So it will take a long time for animation, and also, voice acting work has begun recently. Therefore, Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 is expected to premiere worldwide sometime in 2027.
It is indeed disappointing to hear that the second season of Blue Eye Samurai is heading to Netflix next year, if you have been patiently waiting for its return in 2026 like me. However, we have to give the animators the necessary time they need to consistently deliver high-quality episodes like the debut season.
How Many Episodes Will Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 Have?
In an interview with Collider, showrunners Michael Green and Amber Noizumi shared that Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 will be shorter than the first season, featuring just six episodes (season 1 had eight episodes). In the same interview, the showrunners revealed that they were eyeing a 2026 release.
However, Netflix’s 2026 lineup indirectly confirmed that we won’t be getting Blue Eye Samurai anytime soon this year. Unless Netflix decides to change things and suddenly announces that the second season is coming out in late 2026, it is evident that Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 will release only in 2027.
As teased in the first season’s ending, Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 will take us to 17th-century London as Mizu continues the hunt for her father. So, the wait for Mizu’s revenge tale continues.
