Vivo Y97 Launched in China, Features Waterdrop Notch and IR Face Unlock

Vivo has launched the latest entrant in the Y-series for the China market, which is the Vivo Y97. The device is already up for grabs and brings plenty of features to the table.

The Vivo Y97 features a 6.3-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED (1080×2280 pixels) display with a waterdrop-shaped notch that boats of a 90.3 percent screen-to-body ratio. As for the hardware, the device is powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core processor along with 4GB of RAM. The device comes with 128GB of internal storage, which can further be expanded with a microSD card.

Vivo Y97 packs in a dual camera setup on the back, featuring a 16MP+2MP setup. On the front, there is another 16MP shooter, coupled with Vivo’s AI technology, which, as the company claims, “provides a customized beauty scheme to illuminate your natural beauty according to different facial features of men and women, as well as skin texture, skin color, and scene light”.

The device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Vivo’s FunTouch OS 4.0 skin on top of it. As for security, the device ditches the fingerprint sensor, but packs in an advanced Face Unlock feature. The Face Unlock on the Vivo Y97 uses Infrared technology, which allows users to easily unlock the device even at night.

The Vivo Y97 is already available for sale at a price of ¥1998 (~Rs. 21,000).
