Valheim ‘Kall Fimbulbringer’ Deep North Boss Guide

Valheim 1.0 update completes the game with the release of Deep North. This new biome features many new creatures, weapons, and secrets. It also adds Valheim’s final boss, Kall Fimbulbringer. However, summoning and defeating Kall Fimbulbringer is quite a task. So, here is a full guide on how to summon and defeat the Valheim Kall Fimbulbringer Deep North boss.

Valheim Kall Fimbulbringer Location

Before you can summon and fight Kall Fimbulbringer in Valheim, you will need to locate it on your map. As Valheim seeds are randomly generated, no two seeds will have the same boss location. To locate Kall Fimbulbringer, you will have to find his location runestone, ‘Vegvisir Aesir Passage’, which is also true for every other Valheim boss.

The Kall Fimbulbringer location runestone can be found inside Morkhalla, the new dungeon in the Deep North biome. This dungeon’s door can be found inside ruins in the Deep North, but opening the door requires an Intricate Key in Valheim.

Intricate Key in Valheim can be crafted using the Mould: Intricate Key, dropped by Elakings in the Winding Tunnels. Once you have the mould, freeze it inside the Frost Foundry using Bloodgold to craft the Intricate Key. Once you have done that, head inside Morkhalla and look for the Kall Fimbulbringer location runestone.

How to Summon Kall Fimbulbringer in Valheim Deep North Biome

Summoning Kall Fimbulbringer can be quite a hassle. If you want to cut to the chase and fight him without doing any work, simply use Valheim console commands. But if you want to fight him fair and square without cheating, here is what you need to do.

To summon Kall Fimbulbringer in Valheim, players need three 3 Malicious Blood. This item can only be obtained by completing Jotun invasions in Valheim Deep North. Players can start Jotun invasions by destroying the Malicious Ice found at the centre of Morkhalla dungeons.

Players will have to clear three Morkhalla dungeons, destroying three Malicious Ice, to mark three Jotun Invasion locations on the map. Once the Jotun Invasion starts, the location will be marked with a red circle on the map. Players will have to head to that location and fight off the new Jotun Invasion Valheim creatures.

After fighting the enemies off, destroy the Malicious Ice present there to collect the Malicious Blood. Now, head to the Kall Fimbulbringer altar in Valheim and use three Malicious Blood to summon him.

Valheim Kall Fimbulbringer Boss Guide

Kall Fimbulbringer is the strongest boss in Valheim and holds true to the title of being the final boss. He has three phases with three health bars, making the fight quite long and arduous. You will need the new Deep North Valheim 1.0 weapons and armor to defeat him comfortably.

How to Prepare for Kall Fimbulbringer Boss Fight in Valheim

Now, Kall Fimbulbringer has a total of 47k health, and he is resistant to the following damage types:

• Pierce
• Frost
• Fire
• Lightning
• Spirit (Immune)

This means that Slash and Blunt damage are the best ways to deal damage to Kall Fimbulbringer in Valheim. Also, for mages, the new summoning staff ‘Spirit Caller’ is extremely good against Kall Fimbulbringer.

Next, he deals a ton of Fire and Frost damage with his attacks, so getting resistance to both can be a lifesaver. Other than that, you need to get strong health and stamina foods.

How to Defeat Kall Fimbulbringer

With the preparations done, it is time to bring down Valheim’s “Shackled One.”

Phase 1:

In Kall Fimbulbringer’s first phase, he has 10k health and deals fairly straightforward attacks. Here are his attack patterns:

• Chain Slam: An overhead attack with one or both chains, dealing blunt damage. This attack is blockable/parryable, but don’t commit to attacking too much after blocking it.
• Chain Sweep: A sweeping ranged attack that can be hard to predict. Avoid blocking or parrying, and simply roll towards the attack at the last moment to avoid taking damage.
• Chain Whirl: A spinning attack that covers a large area around the boss. Simply run to the opposite end to avoid it.
• Chain Rush: A lunge attack that deals devastating damage. Avoid taking a hit at all costs. Dodging sideways at the last moment is the best way to avoid this attack.

In the first phase, don’t overcommit and simply do chip damage by waiting for animation resets or after parrying attacks.

Phase 2:

Kall Fimbulbringer is completely immune to attacks, and he summons a version of all the Valheim bosses. These are called aspects, and they perform the exact attacks the other Valheim bosses perform, truly creating a ‘final challenge’ setting for players. This is also a very challenging phase, as you need to defeat seven very strong enemies, with two fighting at the same time.

First, the boss will summon the Aspect of the Lightning Stag, which is the Eikthyr. Next, it will simply follow the game’s boss progression pattern. Here are the enemies he summons, in proper order:

• Aspect of the Lightning Stag (Eikthyr)
• Aspect of the Living Forest (The Elder)
• Aspect of the Writhing Dead (Bonemass)
• Aspect of the Dragon Mother (Moder)
• Aspect of the Twisted Soul (Yagluth)
• Aspect of the Crawling Matriarch (The Queen)
• Aspect of the Emerald Flame (Fader)

Defeating one enemy will summon the next, but the players will always fight two enemies at the same time. Players will need to defeat the Aspect of the Lightning Stag first, then the Aspect of the Writhing Dead. After that, prioritize defeating the Aspect of the Twisted Soul, and then the Aspect of the Dragon Mother. Finally, defeat the Aspect of the Crawling Matriarch and the Aspect of the Emerald Flame.

Phase 3:

This is the final phase of the boss fight, and this time Kall Fimbulbringer has 30k HP. The boss has a similar attack pattern as phase one, with some major differences.

• Elemental Damage: First, all chain attacks now deal elemental damage.
• Chain Fury: A new attack that deals rapid chain strikes in quick succession. Simply avoid getting hit and sneak in some damage once the animation ends.
• Tendrils: Tendrils sprout all over the boss arena, similar to the Elder boss fight.

Players will need to be very patient during this phase, dealing damage when they can, and avoiding everything else. The fight is mostly about who can survive longer, so try to save all your resources for this final phase.

Valheim Kall Fimbulbringer Boss Rewards

Once players defeat Kall Fimbulbringer in Valheim, they will get the following rewards in the game:

• Crown Jewel
• Sacrificial Blood

Crown Jewel is necessary for crafting the Crown of Valheim, which gives 50 armor, -20% Attack stamina usage, -20% swim stamina usage, -20% sneak stamina usage, -20% run stamina usage, and a 5% movement speed bonus. Other than that, it will also stop all Valheim creatures from attacking you in the game.

This is basically the equivalent of completing Valheim. Sacrificial Blood is also an end-game crafting item, making it highly valuable. One thing to note is that Kall Fimbulbringer does not give a Forsaken Power, and no item for any future progression. This boss is truly created to be the final Valheim boss.
