The Outer Worlds 2 Release Date
The Outer Worlds 2 will be released on October 29, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, with day one access on Game Pass for PC and Xbox Ultimate levels. Pre-orders are now live for the Standard Edition ($79.99) and Premium Edition ($99.99), with the latter including up to five days of early access, a DLC Pass for two future story expansions, the Moon Man’s Corporate Appreciation Premium Prize Pack, and access to the digital artbook and soundtrack.
All pre-orders get Commander Zane’s Battle Pack, which includes a Pet ED Drone, Zane’s Pistol, Dagger, and Uniform. There are no individual DLCs available at launch, but the DLC Pass includes access to two story expansions after release.

At Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, Obsidian Entertainment unveiled a vibrant reveal trailer for The Outer Worlds 2, highlighting six new companions: Niles, an Earth Directorate agent; Valerie, a quirky automech drone; Marisol, a deadly assassin-mathematician; Aza, a mysterious cultist; Inez, a combat medic with a dark past; and Tristan, a heavily armored Protectorate arbiter.
The teaser, brimming with Obsidian’s typical humour, highlighted their distinct powers and personalities against the magnificent crystalline worlds of the Arcadia colony. It also cheekily stated that there are no romantic options for companions, focusing instead on companionship and narrative depth.
Comedian Ben Schwartz, who voiced Sonic the Hedgehog, launched the clip with a humorous dig, suggesting that The Outer Worlds 2 would come out “before GTA 6,” mocking the long-awaited Rockstar title’s elusive release. The trailer featured dynamic action, colorful spheres, and gooey enemies, establishing the game’s debut as a sci-fi RPG milestone, with fans raving about its extended player-choice mechanics.
