Kang Dae-Ho entered the game in Squid Game Season 2. He introduced himself as a former Marine personnel and gained the trust of Gi-Hun and his allies. However, when the time came to prove his alliance, Player 388, aka. Dae-Ho betrayed the group. In the previous season, Gi-Hun led a revolt against the Front Man and the staff. In the middle of the fight, Gi-Hun and his allies ran out of magazines.

So, Player 388 was tasked with bringing the magazines; however, Dae-Ho froze in the final moment and chose to sit behind, letting his group die. The betrayal eventually caused several deaths. So, since Player 486 was dropped in the room where all the players were kept, he seemed to be full of rage.

The game of Hide and Seek gives a chance to Player 456 as he draws a red ball while Dae-Ho draws a blue one. So, the former starts hunting the latter. He navigates every tight corridor and the dead ends of the arena and finally gets his hands on the collar of Player 388 at the end of the episode.

Gi-Hun has never hurt anyone before; however, even though he only wanted to confront Dae-Ho and ask him why he betrayed the group, he had to kill him. That’s because the rules of the game clearly state that the tagger who won’t be able to kill even one member of the blue team will be eliminated. Hence, the killing, while also being intentional, was also the need of the hour.
