- The Squid Game 2 milk theory is false.
- Even though the dialogues from Squid Game Seasons 1 and 2 suggest that In-ho is the son of Oh Il-Nam, the evidence at hand proves that this is not true.
- This theory arises simply from a falter in the translation of dialogues from Korean to English making it seem like In-ho or The Frontman is the son of Oh Il-Nam but it's not true.
Squid Game is not only one of the most successful shows Netflix has ever come up with but its recently released season 2 has raised this very popularity to a brand new level. However, with such a massive success comes a lot of theories that arise from fans. One such theory has come to the surface involving In-ho/The Frontman, Oh Il-Nam, and well, milk. So, what is the milk theory in Squid Game and is it true? Let’s find out!
The Milk Theory in Squid Game Season 2 Points Towards In-ho being Oh Il-Nam’s Son
In Squid Game Season 2, we see that In-ho has joined the game as Player 001 to manipulate the result of the voting while also attempting to change Gi-Hun’s opinion on the games. However, in one of the episodes, when the players are served milk for dinner, In-ho offers his portion to Player 222 stating “I can’t drink milk anyways”.
Now, rewind to Season 1 of Squid Game when the players are served milk and bread, Gi-hun states that he has a history of lactose intolerance, Oh Il-Nam makes fun of him saying that Gi-hun might have been spanked a lot as a kid for not drinking milk and when he asks how did Oh Il-Nam make that accurate of a guess, he says “My son did too, he was just like you”.
This dialogue lets the fans relate Oh Il-Nam and In-ho and raise the theory that In-ho is the son Oh Il-Nam was referring to in Squid Game season 1. However, is this claim factually correct? It would be mindblowing if it were, but sadly, it’s not, and let me tell you why.
Is Player 001 the Son of Oh Il-Nam?
Even though the milk theory in Squid Game is rather interesting, there is no hard evidence that Player 001 or In-ho in season 2 is the son of Oh Il-Nam. If we look at the dialogue said by Oh Il-Nam in Season 1 referring to his son being just like Gi-hun, the speculations are simply a result of a falter in translation from Korean to English. In the original dialogues of Squid Game Season 1, Oh Il-Nam seems to emphasize Gi-Hun being spanked as a kid rather than him being lactose intolerant.
However, when being translated into English, the dialogue sounds as if he is referring to Gi-Hun’s lactose intolerance leading to this theory. Even then, there is still a possibility that the theory can stand true in the future since considering the speculation. The creators of the show could incorporate that in Squid Game Season 3 but based on the evidence at hand, Squid Game Season 2 milk theory is false and In-ho or The Frontman is not the son of Oh Il-Nam.
