If you are a fan of sci-fi, you are majorly missing out if you have not checked out Severance on Apple TV+. This series brings us a new definition of “work-life balance” in the most twisted of ways. However, if you have already watched the show, you might have come across what is referred to as the Overtime Contingency Protocol introduced in episode 6 of Severance. So, what is it?
Overtime Contingency Protocol Activates the Innie Outside of Lumon
In the show, the employees working at Lumon have gone through a procedure called Severance, where the company installs a chip in their brains resulting in the creation of two personalities of the same person. The normal one with a personal life is referred to as an Outie while the personality of them that exists in their workplace is called an Innie. The work personality of these workers stops existing as soon as they step out of the office and the real person they are in the outside world stops existing as soon as they step into the office.
However, once the Overtime Contingency Protocol is engaged, the Innie personality of the workers is activated while being in the outside world. This was done to Dylan when he took one of those cards from the Optics and Design Department.
Milchick activated the Overtime Contingency Protocol to find out where Dylan hid it in Episode 6 and after that, the entire Macrodata Refinement Department started planning to use this to let the outside world know what is happening at Lumon.
By the end of Severance Season 1, Mark was able to let his sister know that Gemma is still alive and the season ended on a massive cliffhanger. Let’s see what Severance Season 2 explores and stay tuned with us for further updates!
