Redmi Note 8 Pro Powered by Helio G90T, Confirms MediaTek

Redmi Note 8 Pro powered by Helio G90T

Redmi announced today that its much-anticipated Redmi Note 8 budget lineup will officially be unveiled on August 29 in China. The teaser poster confirmed that it will boast a 64MP quad-camera module, but any information on the internal specs has been pretty scarce. Well, thanks to MediaTek, it has now been confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 Pro will be powered by the Helio G90T chipset.

MediaTek took to its official Weibo channel today to reiterate its partnership with Redmi, which Xiaomi India MD Manu Kumar Jain first announced at the Helio G90/ G90T India launch event. The chipmaker posted a teaser with its latest gaming-centric Helio G90T chipset, adding that it powers one of the Redmi Note 8 devices. And we obviously expect the Redmi Note 8 Pro to be backed by this chipset.

The Weibo post didn’t dole out any more details, but if you’re interested you can read all about the Helio G90 chipsets right here. It’s a pretty capable chipset and it will be one of the biggest changes to the Note lineup in several years. The Redmi Note lineup has been powered by Snapdragon chipsets since the Redmi Note 3, i.e about four years ago. Helio G90T is bringing back MediaTek chipsets into the fold again and it would be interesting to see the consumer reaction to it.

Apart from the chipset, the Redmi Note 8 series is known to feature a waterdrop notch display (yeah, no bezel-less design or pop-up camera), quad cameras on the rear with primary 64MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright SW1 sensor, and a premium glass finish. We’ll surely see a number of new features on the camera and software front as well, so stay tuned for more fresh updates.
