2025 proved itself to be a wonderful year for the cinephiles as it blessed the industry with some of the best films of all time. So, no wonder this Oscar 2026 race is a bit tight. The award season has already started with the 83rd Golden Globes on January 12, 2026, and now, we are headed towards the 98th Academy Awards that will be held on March 16, 2026. As the big night is getting near, nominations are already out. So, we have prepared the Oscars 2026 predictions for all major categories.

Best Picture

  • Sinners (WINNER)
  • One Battle After Another
  • Hamnet
  • Marty Supreme
  • Sentimental Value
  • Frankenstein
  • Bugonia
  • The Secret Agent
  • Train Dreams
  • F1

Of course, there are several strong candidates in this category. One Battle After Another, F1, and Frankenstein, basically every movie that is nominated is nothing short of a masterpiece. However, we think that Sinners has a higher chance of winning this category. Ryan Coogler really delivered a king of a film with an incredible score, awe-inspiring cinematography, and of course, incredible direction.

Best Actor in a Leading Role

  • Timothée Chalamet, Marty Supreme
  • Leonardo DiCaprio, One Battle After Another (WINNER)
  • Michael B. Jordan, Sinners
  • Ethan Hawke, Blue Moon
  • Wagner Moura, The Secret Agent

Honestly, if you look at the nomination, you’d think that it would be easier for the academy to give an award to every nominated actor. For instance, Michael B. Jordan was a force to be reckoned with in Sinners. Similarly, Timothée Chalamet gave an inspiring performance in Marty Supreme. However, we personally think that Leonardo has slighter edge when it comes to bagging the award. His performance in One Battle After Another is truly astonishing.

Best Actress in a Leading Role

  • Jessie Buckley, Hamnet (WINNER)
  • Rose Byrne, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You
  • Kate Hudson, Song Sung Blue
  • Renate Reinsve, Sentimental Value
  • Emma Stone, Bugonia

The competition in this category is also as tough as in the best actor category. Emma Stone is as graceful and inspiring as ever in Bugonia with her strong performance. Similarly, Kate Hudson has again surprised the community by taking on an entirely different and unique role in the biographical musical drama Song Sung Blue. Of course, every actress nominated will be remembered for these roles, but the biggest surprise for everyone this year was surely Jessie Buckley. Jessie has really outdone herself in Hamnet, and we think that it’s about time that the talented actress bags her first Oscar.

Best Actor in a Supporting Role

  • Stellan Skarsgård, Sentimental Value
  • Benicio del Toro, One Battle After Another
  • Jacob Elordi, Frankenstein (WINNER)
  • Delroy Lindo, Sinners
  • Sean Penn, One Battle After Another

As expected, the nominations for Best Actor in a supporting role are so great that it’s difficult to figure out who’s going to win. I mean, there are chances that Delroy Lindo will get the award for his performance in Sinners. Or maybe it will be Sean Penn for his role in One Battle After Another. However, the actor we’d bet on this time is Jacob Elordi. Jacob Elordi took on a very challenging and difficult role in Frankenstein. His version of the monster will be remembered for years to come.

Best Actress in a Supporting Role

  • Teyana Taylor, One Battle After Another
  • Wunmi Mosaku, Sinners
  • Elle Fanning, Sentimental Value
  • Amy Madigan, Weapons (WINNER)
  • Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Sentimental Value

The quirkiest roles are the most memorable ones. That’s not a saying, but that’s what we believe. And if you look at the nominations, it’s clear that the actor who fits this category is Amy Madigan. Honestly, Amy Madigan’s role in Weapons is so creepy that it will send shivers down your spine. It’s really commendable how Amy took on such a difficult role in the movie, and for that, she very well deserves an Oscar.

Best Direction

  • Ryan Coogler, Sinners (WINNER)
  • Paul Thomas Anderson, One Battle After Another
  • Chloé Zhao, Hamnet
  • Joachim Trier, Sentimental Value
  • Josh Safdie, Marty Supreme

Let’s be real. Sinners is one of those rare movies that was nominated in sixteen categories. And while it’s hard to say in how many categories it will win, we can bet our money on the Best Direction. Sinners is a masterpiece for a lot of reasons, but one of the biggest reasons for it to become this big is the direction.

Best Animated Feature Film

  • KPop Demon Hunters (WINNER)
  • Elio
  • Arco
  • Little Amélie or the Character of Rain
  • Zootopia 2

Honestly, it’s surprising for several fans that Demon Slayer and Chainsaw Man were snubbed at the Oscars. To an extent, I agree with it. These movies very well deserved to be nominated. But when you take these out, the best animated film that caught everyone by surprise last year was definitely KPop Demon Hunters. So, yeah, a lot of fans are betting on this film, and so are we.
