- Loki is the second son of King Harold from the Warlond Kingdom, making him the Prince of Elbaf.
- He killed his father as he was desperate for the royal family's heirloom, a legendary devil fruit.
- Currently, Loki is chained for his heinous actions, and we know nothing about his devil fruit powers.
It’s been around seven years since Loki was first introduced as a goofy silhouette in the Whole Cake Island arc. Ever since then, fans have not only waited to step on the homeland of the Giants but also to meet their prince. As the Elbaf arc is underway in the manga, Eiichiro Oda has finally introduced One Piece fans to Loki with an incredible and surprising character design. If you wish to learn about the accursed prince of Elbaf, including whether he is similar to Loki from Norse mythology, what his devil fruit is, and more, let’s find out in this post.
Spoiler Warning: This article contains heavy spoilers for Loki’s character in the Elbaf arc of the One Piece manga.
Loki, The Accursed Prince of Elbaf

Loki is confirmed to be the second-born son of Harold, the King of the Warlord Kingdom. Although this makes Loki the younger brother of Hajrudin, it should be noted that Hajrudin was an illegitimate son and only Loki was born to the queen of Elbaf. While we expected Loki to have a jovial design like the other giants, Oda has gone for a menacing look for the prince.
At first, Loki was revered as the “Prince of Elbaf” by the Giants and we are told about how he fell in love with Charlotte Lola and arranged a political marriage with the Big Mom family. However, it’s not the same situation anymore as Loki is now branded as the “Shame of Elbaf” in the latest One Piece manga chapters. If you are wondering why his reputation was tarnished, it has to do with his avarice for power.
Loki’s Gigantic Bounty
No one, I repeat, no character from the entire One Piece series has received a special bounty. Due to his world-ending capabilities and the vile acts he has committed, the World Government placed a special bounty of 2.6 billion Verries on Loki’s head. Moreover, Loki has the 10th-highest bounty for a character in One Piece.
What is Loki’s Devil Fruit in One Piece?
Loki triggered his downfall when his desire to obtain a legendary devil fruit got to his head, making him egotistical and maniacal. The royal family of Elbaf passed down a devil fruit to future generations. However, as with the name Loki came greediness, so the prince went out of his way to kill his father and successfully ate that legendary devil fruit. Oda hasn’t disclosed the details about Loki’s devil fruit in the One Piece manga at the moment.
A lot of new information about the Sun God Nika has begun to surface in the manga recently. Loki stated that “he is the sun god who brings the world to an end.” Fans are already theorizing that there could be another devil fruit related to Nika which enables the user to become the God of Destruction. If this turns out to be true, then Blackbeard might definitely want to kill Loki and obtain this devil fruit power as his third devil fruit in the future.
There is another popular theory that Loki has a mythical zoan devil fruit model: Fenrir. If you aren’t aware, Fenrir is a ghastly wolf from Norse mythology whose sole duty is to destroy the world. Thus, Loki could take on the form of Fenrir as his power to wreak havoc in the Giants’ homeland and possibly bring Ragnarok as well.
Loki’s Haki Powers in One Piece
You might have already noted Loki’s eyes are covered with bandages. So how does a blindfolded Loki be able to sense everything around him? The simple answer is Loki has unlocked Observation Haki and perceives everything similar to how Admiral Fujitora does. He was also seen dodging both Luffy and Gunko’s attacks. However, we would have to wait a bit more to see if he can use Future Vision like Katakuri or Luffy.
What Is Loki’s Connection With Shanks?
According to the Giants, Loki started to commit grievous vile acts (truly living up to his name of the God of Mischief) from a young age. He claimed to be the Sun God, and killing his father was the end of the road for him. Well, he can’t walk free after killing Elbaf’s greatest king, it was Shanks who defeated Loki around 6 years ago. Along with Shanks, it took the combined efforts and strength of the Giant warriors to punish him for his deeds.
As a result, Loki was considered the greatest shame of Elbaf for his crimes and sentenced to be chained up below in the underworld of Elbaf a few years ago. Loki also mentioned that Shanks used Conqueror’s Haki and made his minions pass out during their encounter. We need to wait before learning more about this encounter. But one thing is clear which is Shanks became an emperor shortly after vanquishing Loki and it earned him the admiration of the giants.
While we expected Loki to be a supporting prince like Momonosuke from Wano, Oda has opted for an unexpected evil route with this character. As Luffy is seen talking to Loki on Elbaf right now, who knows whether he will free the trickster from his shackles and accidentally kick off Ragnarok in One Piece?
That said, let us know your thoughts about the One Piece variant of Loki in the comments below.
Loki is the heir to the throne of Warland Kingdom as he is the son of King Harald and the queen of Elbaf. But as he killed his father for his devil fruit power, he is currently imprisoned in Elbaf’s underworld.
Loki is an overpowered character with the 10th-highest bounty in the world to his name. He killed his father, who was considered to be the mightiest warrior of Elbaf, and also hundreds of giants.
Although it appears as if Loki is a maniacal villain in One Piece, fans hope that Loki could have made a sacrifice for his father and took the blame. We would have to wait for some more time to learn more about his character’s true nature.
Yes! Shanks has already defeated Loki once 6 years ago in the story. The Red-Haired pirate became a yonko shortly after that.
