Loki, The Accursed Prince of Elbaf
Loki is confirmed to be the second-born son of Harold, the King of the Warlord Kingdom. So, this makes Loki the younger brother of Hajrudin, a major captain of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. While we expected Loki to have a jovial design like the other giants, Oda has gone for a menacing look for the prince.
At first, Loki is revered as the “Prince of Elbaf” by the Giants and we were told about how he fell in love with Charlotte Lola and arranged a political marriage with the Big Mom family. However, it’s not the same situation anymore as Loki is now branded as the “Shame of Elbaf” in the latest One Piece manga chapters. If you are wondering why his reputation was tarnished, it has got to do with his avarice for power.
What is Loki’s Devil Fruit in One Piece?
Loki triggered his downfall when his desire to obtain a legendary devil fruit got to his head, making him egotistical and maniacal. The royal family of Elbaf passed down a devil fruit to future generations. However, as with the name Loki comes greediness, so the prince goes out of his way to kill his father and successfully eats that legendary devil fruit. Oda hasn’t disclosed the details about Loki’s devil fruit in the One Piece manga at the moment.
Now that we have a short hiatus before new manga chapters are released, fans are actively sharing theories regarding Loki’s devil fruit. One popular theory is that Loki has a mythical zoan devil fruit model: Fenrir. If you aren’t aware, Fenrir is a ghastly wolf from Norse mythology whose sole duty is to destroy the world. Loki himself stated that “he is the sun god who brings the world to an end.” Thus, Loki could take on the form of Fenrir as his power to wreak havoc in the homeland of the Giants and possibly bring Ragnarok as well.
Why is Loki Chained in Elbaf Right Now?
According to the Giants, Loki started to commit grievous vile acts (truly living up to his name of God of Mischief). He claimed to be the Sun God, and killing his father was the end of the road for him. It took all the combined efforts and strength of the Giant warriors to punish him for his deeds.
As a result, Loki was considered the greatest shame of Elbaf for his crimes and sentenced to be chained up below the giant detention center a few years ago.
While we expected Loki to be a supporting prince like Momonosuke from Wano, Oda has opted for an unexpected evil route with this character.
