What Is Loki’s Devil Fruit in One Piece?

Loki, chained up in the underworld for his misdeeds, announced himself as the Sun God who would bring about the end of the world, and he consumed the legendary Devil Fruit power passed down in Elbaf’s royal bloodline. Following a long wait, it is now confirmed in One Piece Chapter 1174 that the Devil Fruit Loki consumed is a Mythical-Zoan fruit, allowing Loki to transform into a colossal black dragon.
Unlike Momonosuke’s or Kaido’s dragon designs, Loki’s dragon form resembles a dragon from the west, and it is the largest dragon we have ever laid eyes on in One Piece, a parallel to Vhagar from the House of the Dragon series. Only Loki’s dragon form has been revealed in the One Piece manga at the time of writing.
When Did Loki Eat the Elbaf’s Legendary Devil Fruit?
Elbaf’s legendary Devil Fruit was guarded by Ragnir, a hammer that became partially sentient by eating the Ratatoskr-based Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit. It should be noted that no one has eaten this national treasure in decades, as those who attempted to were never deemed worthy by Ragnir. However, Loki proved worthy in its eyes for the first time in generations and successfully ate the Devil Fruit in front of Ragnir as his father wished.
When Loki had to kill his father, he had a beastly transformation, with claws emerging from his hands. At that time, we predicted that this form could be a dragon, and it turned out to be the truth. These Mythical Zoans are always reserved for the strongest figures in the One Piece series, and Loki has just proved to us that he is the strongest warrior from Elbaf.
Loki’s Dragon Form and Powers in One Piece
In manga chapter 1141, Ripley stated that lightning and fire are Elbaf’s biggest weaknesses, as the nation is entirely built on top of gigantic trees. Now, Loki is confirmed to have Ragnir, a lightning-summoning hammer similar to Mjolnir. So, the lightning part has been covered, and the fire part is yet to be addressed, and that’s what his Devil Fruit power is expected to cover.
Yes, the lightning on impact creates fire, but I think there is more to it. During Big Mom’s flashback, Mother Carmel mentioned that Sun God mitigated the chaos caused by child Linlin with the powers of fire. Now, Loki, calling himself the Sun God, points out that he has fire-related Devil Fruit powers. There are already two fire-based devil fruit powers, namely Mera Mera no Mi (Flame Flame fruit) and Magu Magu no Mi (Magma Magma fruit).
So, Oda can utilize a mythical dragon figure with fire powers, namely Nidhoggr from Norse mythology, for the new Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit. Niddhogr is known to be the dragon that resides in the underworld and gnaws at the roots of the Yggdrasil tree. Coincidentally, Loki is also the one who was previously chained at the bottom of the Treasure Tree, Adam (One Piece version of Yggdrasil). As a dragon, Loki is predicted to breathe fire in tandem with unleashing Ragnir’s lightning powers.
Loki’s Dragon closely resembles the giant dragon at the top of the ancient Harley mural of Elbaf. So our bet is that Loki possesses a mythical zoan devil fruit model: Nidhoggr, and let’s not forget that this version of dragon is canon in One Piece, as seen when a child’s fear of Nidhoggr resulted in a giant dragon nightmare roaming the homeland of giants.
Loki and Luffy are back in the realm to fight the God’s Knights, so we are sure to see him use his Devil Fruit powers against Imu and her forces in the upcoming chapters of the One Piece manga.
