The last time we saw Imu in action was when she mercilessly exterminated Saint Saturn, one of the Five Elders in One Piece, after he failed to capture Luffy in the Egghead arc. So, it’s been some time since we saw her menacing silhouette in the manga. Well, the wait is finally over as Imu makes an unforeseen appearance in One Piece manga chapter 1149, not in a flashback or sitting inside the Pangae castle in Mary Geoise. Instead, the villain shows up on Elbaf island in the most unexpected way.
The chapter sees Gaban take on Gunko, but Colon makes it difficult for his father to continue the fight by revealing his identity to the God’s Knight member. Gunko then takes Colon hostage and starts to pierce his neck, due to which Gaban gives up. He begs for mercy and is knocked off the surface with Gunko’s devil fruit powers.
As Gaban is falling off the cliff, we see Colon crying and calling out to his father. Gunko is taken aback by this and remembers a memory with Brook from the past. Just when she begins to sprint to get to Brook, to everyone’s disbelief, Imu takes control of Gunko’s body.
Imu also immediately communicates with Sommers and Killingham telepathically to inform them that the holy land, Marie Geoise, is in flames and is in dire need of additional military support right now. Angered by all the commotion on Elbaf island, Imu warns the residents to prepare to face the wrath of God.
Imu must have somehow sensed that someone had countered the regeneration abilities of the God’s knights, so they immediately assumed control of Gunko’s body to deliver a chilling message. We’ve always suspected there was some sort of connection between Imu and Gunko, and manga chapter 1149 sort of confirms it.
That said, the holy land is in turmoil right now, and it makes us wonder whether the Revolutionary Army or the Blackbeard Pirates have launched an attack against the World Government. We believe it’s the former since Imu mentioned that Mary Geoise is in a sea of flames, and the Flame Emperor Sabo possibly could be behind the fires.
Anyway, it’s a matter of urgency, and it seems like Imu is ordering the Holy Knights to pack up and head back to the holy land right away. Now, will we see Imu unleash her power while using Gunko’s body? We will find out in the upcoming chapter.
Moreover, since Gaban and Chopper have fallen into the underworld, Luffy, Loki, and the remaining giants will learn about the commotion above.
