Not many of us are aware of the 1922 silent German vampire-centred film Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror. Die-hard horror fanatics would know that it is still considered one of the horror classics and the best horror films ever made. It was an adaptation of the Gothic horror novel Dracula. The prestigious filmmaker Robert Eggers has been developing the film since 2015, and finally, we have a release date for it: December 25, 2024. So, it’s evident everyone wants to learn about the Nosferatu’s cast and characters. Well, here’s all you need to know.
1. Bill Skarsgard as Count Orlok
Bill Skarsgard captivated horror fans with his appearance as Pennywise, the dancing clown in the It Movies. Now, the actor has again bagged the character of a supernatural entity in the upcoming horror movie Nosferatu. This time, we will see him as Count Orlok, a bloodthirsty vampire.
Bill Skarsgard is a 34-year-old actor who is recognized for his performances in several horror projects, including Castle Rock, Barbarian, and Hemlock Grove.
2. Nicholas Hoult as Thomas Hutter
Following his work in Reinfield, Nosferatu is the second vampire-centric film to have Nicholas Hoult. While the former saw him in the role of the vampire’s loyal servant, the upcoming film will see him as the one who will leave no stone unturned to stop the vampire in his ill motives.
The English actor Nicholas Hoult is mainly known for his supporting roles in some of the most prominent projects, such as Mad Max: Fury Road. However, the fandom recognizes him for his work in About A Boy, a 2002 comedy-drama, and the teen comedy-drama Skins.
3. Lily-Rose Depp as Ellen Hutter
Ellen Hutter is the wife of Thomas Hutter, with whom Count Orlok gets infatuated and comes after them to drink the former’s blood. After her first interaction with the vampire, Ellen starts falling ill. Initially, the Peaky Blinders fame Anya-Taylor Joy was supposed to portray the character, but due to unknown reasons, she dropped the role, and later, the creators passed on the role to Lily-Rose Depp.
Lily-Rose Depp is the daughter of popular stars Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis. The 25-year-old Lily is an actress and fashion model who is recognized for her roles in The King, A Faithful Man, Tusk, and more.
4. Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Friedrich Harding
Friedrich Harding is the friend of Thomas Hutter, who will play a significant role in the fight against Count Orlok. While speaking to EW, the director stated that even though we are familiar with Friedrich as he was there in the original film, the remake will see this character’s true worth.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson has worked on several big projects, including MCU’s Avengers: The Age of Ultron, where we saw him as Pietro Maximoff. Moreover, his performances also helped him receive several accolades, including a Golden Globe, BAFTA, and more.
5. Emma Corrin as Anna Harding
Anna Harding is the wife of Friedrich, who will play a prominent role in the film. While nothing has been clarified about the character yet, Eggers assured in an interview that the relationship between Anna and Friedrich would be seen as integral to the story.
Emma-Louise Corrin is an English actor who was recently seen as Cassandra Nova in Deadpool 3. Corrin has been in the industry since 2019, and since then, they have appeared in several drama series and films such as The Crown, Grantchester, Pennyworth, and more.
6. Ralph Ineson as Dr. Wilhelm Sievers
This is not the first time Eggers and Ralph have come together for a project. The duo previously worked together in The Northman and The Witch. Well, while not elaborating much, the director says that Dr. Wilhelm Sievers is the Watson to Willem Dafoe’s Holmes.
While Ralph appeared in several huge projects like Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and 2, he is still mainly known for portraying Chris Finch in the beloved sitcom of all time, The Office.
7. Willem Dafoe as Prof. Albin Eberhart Von Franz
Prof. Albin Eberhart Von Franz is a vampire hunter who looks forward to stopping Orlok from feeding on his next victim. Eggers describes him as the crazy vampire hunter he has always loved and related to.
The award-winning actor Willem Dafoe has blessed the fandom with some of the diverse roles, be it in mainstream projects or the art cinema. Some of his most praise-worthy performances are seen in Platoon, The Florida Project, Shadow of the Vampire and more.
8. Simon McBurney as Herr Knock
Besides the vampire, the remake of Nosferatu will see Herr Knock as the secondary antagonist. In the original film, Herr Knock was Thomas’s boss and the vampire’s pawn. So, it would be intriguing to see if Eggers stays true to the original character or if he modifies him a bit.
