Similar to All Might being Japan’s top Pro Hero, Cathleen Bate is America’s No. 1 Pro Hero. So, Star and Stripes has a unique quirk called “New Order”, suited for the nation’s most beloved hero.

New Order is a quirk in MHA that can make its user almost omnipotent, thanks to its versatile set of abilities. This quirk was highly praised by All For One and no wonder he wanted his hands on it to destroy the world.

Fun Fact: This quirk was named after the Latin expression “Novus ordo seclorum (New order of the ages),” which appears as a motto on the back of the United States’ Great Seal. Thus, this makes it a befitting title for the America’s greatest hero’s quirk.

Only Cathleen Bate was the holder of this quirk before Tomura Shigaraki seized it from her. But Star and Stripe gave the command for the quirk to destroy itself inside of him, which led to the vanishing of this quirk from existence. That said, learn how the New Order quirk works in the section below.

As Star and Stripe’s New Order quick is a bit complex, we have broken down the key points to help you understand its working in a better manner. Here’s how this quirk works:

  • First, Star and Stripe could control and give her own self and the environment around her new qualities by imposing a law after successfully activating their quirk.
  • To activate the New Order quirk, the user should touch the target and say the target’s name. Then, the user also needs to describe the rule they want to enforce.
  • The target could be living things as well as non-living things. However, one major condition is that the user can enforce only two rules at once.
  • This means that if the user has already defined two rules but wants to add another one, they have to disable one of the activated rules. For example, Cathleen always used one rule to make her strong and kept it activated at all times. Then, with one more option left, she always used this to impose new rules she wished such as catching laser beams.
  • Additionally, the user can even impose rules on New Order itself, allowing the user to alter the quirk’s very nature and its effects. It was described as a power that redefined what a Quirk can be. This allowed Cathleen to change the quirk’s fundamental characteristics itself.
  • Lastly, even if the quirk was stolen and transferred to another user, the rules established by the previous user could still be enforced. That’s how the New Order quirk was able to self-destruct within Shigaraki.

Though the quirk is no longer in existence, New Order was considered to be an ultimate power that expanded the definition of a quirk. However, as powerful as it may sound, it comes with its own set of limitations, which we have mentioned above.

Unfortunately, Star and Stripe’s fight against Shigaraki was horrifying and led to her death in the My Hero Academia series. That said, what are your thoughts on the New Order quirk? Let us know in the comments below.
