What makes this realm interesting is that it sits alongside the Overworld adventures in the ARPG sequel. This won’t be a one-way ticket or a side mission that you would complete and forget. Mojang has specifically described The Sift as a place containing new mobs, bosses, beautiful landscapes, and mysteries waiting to be uncovered.

What Does the Sift Look Like?

The visual style of The Sift is dramatically different from the familiar Minecraft biomes in the original game. The gameplay footage shows the Minecraft Sift dimension dominated by red and orange tones, while also having traces of green vegetation and striking water pools, originally named ‘Ouch Water.’

The most obvious doorway to reach the Sift dimension is through the mysterious rifts that keep appearing throughout the Minecraft Dungeons 2 world. Although the trailer shows the rifts appearing automatically, we also learn that Grand Illusioner’s staff can create these rifts at will.

Apart from the mysterious rifts, you can also reach The Sift dimension by traveling through the Deep Dark portal. Baby Sifter

The Baby Sifter is a small hostile creature found during the early stages of exploring The Sift in Minecraft Dungeons 2. Despite its appearance, you should not treat it as a cute creature, since it can perform melee attacks by biting.

Bearded Sifter

The Bearded Sifter is a ranged hostile mob that attacks the heroes from a distance. It has a particularly bizarre animation as the creature rapidly shakes its head to shoot projectiles from its chin. These projectiles can even track you before locking on and then travel in a straight line.

Blub

The Blub is a passive creature in The Sift and can be described as a glowing rabbit-like animal that hops around the realm. You might have already seen it in the gameplay trailer where the hero picks up a Blub, and it makes adorable squeaking sounds. So, if you want one as a pet, make sure to lock in your Minecraft Dungeons 2 pre-order before the game releases.

Echo Golem

The Echo Golem is one of the important beings connected to the dimension’s lore. These golems are powered by soul blocks that were created by the Singers. Unlike the hostile mobs in the Minecraft Dungeons 2 Sift dimension, Echo Golems help the heroes progress through the story.

Licker

The Nester is a hostile Sift-native mob that prefers melee combat. When it spots a hero, it will rapidly bound toward them before lunging forward to deliver a bite. Once the melee attack ends, a cooldown starts, making it stay near the hero until it’s ready to attack again.

Singer

The Singer is one of the most mysterious inhabitants of The Sift dimension in Minecraft Dungeons 2. The leaks from the latest Minecraft Dungeons 2 novel, The Rift, suggest that the Singers communicate through song and are closely associated with the portals to reach The Sift.

They are also supposedly responsible for creating Echo Golems and can use their music to pacify the Minecraft Wardens. Singers have a distinctive appearance with pale green bodies, shaggy fur, tiny faces on their elongated necks, pale antlers, short legs, and long arms.

Sprout

The Sprout is a flying hostile enemy in The Sift, having a strange tentacle-like appearance. While the ground-based ranged enemies can force you to reposition yourself in combat, these flying mobs will add another layer of difficulty in the new dimension.

Tall Sifter

The Tall Sifter is a hostile ranged enemy in The Sift that keeps its distance from the heroes and shoots projectiles from its mouth. Sculk Slasher

The Sculk Slasher is a hostile sculk creature equipped with long claws that can slash the heroes during a fight. The mob is particularly dangerous for melee fights, since it can reposition itself by dashing backward and leaving behind a spectral afterimage.

Sculk Dancer

The Sculk Dancer is a large hostile mini-boss in the Sift dimension of Minecraft Dungeons 2. Its attacks include swinging its arms and spinning its body. Getting too close can be dangerous since it performs some massive AoE attacks rather than targeting a single point. Similar to the Slashers, Sculk Dancers can also leave spectral afterimages that mimic their movements.

Sculk Monstrosity

The Sculk Monstrosity is one of the major bosses you can find in the Minecraft Dungeons 2 Sift. Some of its major attacks include dashing towards the heroes with a shoulder charge and unleashing a burst of souls during the boss fight. The Sift’s Story and Connection to Deep Dark in Minecraft Dungeons 2

With all the information available about The Sift dimension, we know that it has a strong relationship with the Deep Dark biome, the Singer mobs, soul blocks, Echo Golems, and the High Council.

At the same time, it also raises an important question of whether the dimension would eventually drop in the main game. The possibility can’t be ignored, because the Deep Dark portal has been in the vanilla Minecraft Ancient Cities ever since the Wild update. However, it is important to note everything that has been shown officially and what the community wants.

Is The Sift Connected to Minecraft Deep Dark Biome?

Yes, the Sift has a clear connection to the Deep Dark biome in Minecraft Dungeons 2. The two settings are linked through the portal and the Singer’s abilities alongside the Echo Golems.

The Deep Dark biome introduced the sculk blocks in Minecraft, the Warden, and hints of an ancient civilization. Minecraft Dungeons 2 builds on that idea by showing that the Singer’s music abilities were used to open the Deep Dark portal to reach the Sift, as suggested by The Rift novel.

Will The Sift Come to Vanilla Minecraft?

For now, there is no official confirmation that The Sift is coming to vanilla Minecraft. Mojang has specifically presented it as an entirely new dimension for Minecraft Dungeons 2.

Mojang’s Chief Creative Officer, Jeb, also explains that adding a full dimension to vanilla Minecraft is a bigger task, and it affects the whole community connected to it.
