Mel’s New Powers and Abilities in Arcane and League of Legends

Mel Medarda, the daughter of Ambessa Medarda and an esteemed councilor of Piltover wasn’t just a political character as we initially considered her to be in Arcane. Ever since she and her love interest Jayce came out unscathed after Jinx attacked Piltover Tower, people have been questioning whether she has some groundbreaking powers. These doubts were cleared in the final act of Arcane Season 2 as it brought Mel’s newfound mage powers to light. So, let’s discuss Mel’s powers and abilities in the Arcane TV show as well as her leaked kit in League of Legends.

Mel Medarda was kidnapped by a member (potentially LeBlanc) of the Black Rose and was locked inside the Oculorum, a magical chamber. Inside the Oculorum, Mel learned the truth about her origins from the mysterious character who impersonated her brother, Kino.

The truth is that Mel Medarda is an illegitimate child who was born as a result of Ambessa having an affair with a man from Basilich. The member of Black Rose remarked that the secret connection was the source of Mel’s newfound powers in the story.

You are an empath and attuned to ethereal – Black Rose Member

After Mel shattered the thorn domain with her newfound power, the mysterious member confirmed that Mel Medarda is a mage/sorceress similar to her. Moreover, she belongs to a rare category of mage as they described her as an empath. According to them, Mel is like a conduit and a mirror at the same time as she has the power to sense other people’s inner selves and bend their magic.

Mel’s new magical powers are a merit. That’s why the Black Rose was interested in recruiting her from the beginning.

Mel Medarda’s Powers and Abilities

Mel herself wasn’t aware of the unreal magical powers she had been possessing all this time. As the Arcane was awakened in the show, it is considered the cause behind the quick development of Mel’s magical talents. Even Viktor, in the final act, observed Mel’s new powers and commented that “the Arcane stirs within her.”

As a sorceress, Mel’s eyes turn golden along with the tattoos that run all along her body shine bright. She has the following powers:

  • Shield: In several instances, Mel put forth a magical shield that protects herself and deflects hazardous attacks.
  • Celestial Beam: Mel was seen channelizing her arcane to unleash a powerful golden-colored beam that obliterates opponents.
  • Ultimate Magic: When she was captured inside the domain full of thorns, Mel unleashed her full power by letting loose her golden arcane magic like an electrifying shock power.

Although she has progressed quickly, it is clear that Mel has a lot to learn about her Arcane powers. In the finale, she is seen heading back to Noxus as her mother Ambessa was killed. So, we are bound to see more of Mel’s powers in the Noxian Empire in the upcoming expansions in Arcane’s universe.

Mel is an Upcoming Champion in League of Legends

After Ambessa was introduced as a new champion in League of Legends, her daughter Mel is also rumored to step into the arena as the next champion. She will make her entry into the game in 2025. In line with that, the leaks that came out last month revealed that Mel is a supporting mage. Now this has come to fruition in the Arcane TV show.

The leaked HUDs of her abilities are also in line with the powers we saw in Act 3 of Arcane Season 2, such as the shield, shock beams, and more. We hope to see Mel again in the upcoming TV shows set in the Arcane universe as well as in the League of Legends game. That said, what do you think about Mel’s power in Arcane?
