In Short
  • Fortnite Delulu is a new limited-time mode that will only be accessible on weekends.
  • The mode features an 80-player Zero Build gameplay.
  • Players will be able to leave and join teams mid-match using Proximity Chat.

Fortnite is best known for its unique Battle Royale experience and live events that keep players engaged season after season. But it’s the other game modes than your core BR and Zero Build, that draw in millions of players each month to take a break from that survival combat and try something different than the usual grind.

Over the years, Fortnite has introduced limited-time modes like Horde Rush, Getaway, Wick’s Bounty, and Floor is Lava to keep the gameplay interesting and players entertained with its diverse range. Now, at present, when the current Chapter 6 Season 4 is already full of wild content, right from rideable bugs to a gattling Leadspitter 3000, Epic has released a unique LTM called Fortnite Delulu which brings Proximity Chat to Battle Royale. Here’s how to play it and claim a Victory Royale.

What is Fortnite Delulu?

Fortnite Delulu is a Limited-Time mode that will only be available to play on weekends. Since this is a weekend-only LTM mode, it will be live on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. This means the mode will automatically be deactivated on September 22, and you’ll need to wait for the following weekend to play it again.

Players can start solo or squad up with friends, or forge new alliances on the fly with their enemies using the newly introduced Proximity Chat feature. To queue for Delulu, players need to head to the Compete Tab and select the game tile.

To best experience the Proximity Chat in Delulu, make sure your Voice Chat settings are set for Everybody. Coming to the gameplay, Delulu is an 80-player Zero Build mode which will feature a unique gameplay where the last surviving player wins.

How to Play Fortnite Delulu

If you’re jumping into Delulu for the first time, don’t fret – our guide will take you through how you can kickstart your match, team up with random players and claim a Victory Royale.

Spawning on the Island

Fortnite Delulu does not have a Battle Bus. Instead as soon as the match starts, you’re dropped into a random location on the Chapter 6 Season 4 map. Furthermore, the storm circle is almost half the size it usually is in a regular Battle Royale or Zero Build mode.

Keep in mind you may not land exactly at the POI where you’d want to so it’s better to begin looting the area for any weapons or consumables you may find. Once you have enough ammunition and heals, you’re ready to team up with players in your lobby.

Making an Ally on the Fly

To talk to players in your lobby, make sure your mic is turned on to Open Mic and your Voice Chat privacy is set to Everybody. Once you’re set up, keep a close listen to the player/s talking near you. You’ll be able to see their names and a speaker icon on the right side of your screen.

If you come across a team or a player, wave your pickaxe near them and invite them to team up with you. Then, open your emote wheel and perform the exclusive Team Up emote in front of the player and wait for them to join your party. You can also join someone’s party if they perform an emote in front of you.

It is advisable to request a team up and ceasefire with a single or two players. If you spot a trio or a squad, chances are they might be playing for the win and you may get eliminated waiting to get teamed up with them. Furthermore, if an enemy revives you while DBNO, you’ll automatically join their team.

While Delulu features Hive Chests and Loot Chests for players to loot up and claim weapons from, the island also has O.X.R. Chests and Supply Drops that cannot be opened up solo. To open a locked O.X.R. Chest, you’ll need minimum two players to stand in front of it, so it’s best to open it if you’re a part of a team.

Simply stand in front of the chest and it will scan two players and automatically open the lock. Then, interact with the chest to open it and claim loot. Coming to supply drops, they are also locked behind a scanning mechanic, however it requires minimum three players to stand in front of it as it will open once it scans the required players.

Always Keep a Traversal Item or Vehicle Handy

Delulu features a similar loot pool to Zero Build and Battle Royale, however there are a lot of traversal items like Shockwave Grenade, Grappler, Lawless Rift Launcher, Crash Pads and Launch pads available at your disposal. It’s best to keep one in your inventory at all times since it can help you during a sweaty situation.

Betray Your Squad and Go For Victory Royale

Winning is not easy in Delulu as the game mode only allows one player from the entire lobby to win the match. This means even if you’re in a team, you’ll need to open your emote wheel and perform the Leave Party emote so you can fire at your teammates.

Betrayal is the name of the game and if you play it smartly, you can get away with betraying your squad in the final circle and claim the ultimate Victory Royale. You can also win a free Victory Umbrella on your first Delulu win.
