How to Craft and Forge Weapons in KCD 2

There are multiple steps to successfully craft and forge a weapon in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. Follow all the steps below to do:

1. Find an Anvil and Start Blacksmithing

First, you need to find an anvil to start blacksmithing in KCD 2. You can find them next to forges or around a blacksmith’s house. Next, you must know the blueprint of the weapon you are trying to craft and have the required materials to craft it in your inventory. When you have the materials, go near the Anvil and select the Start Blacksmithing option. Pick the recipe that you want to craft and press ‘E‘ to start crafting.

2. Heat Up the Metal

The next thing you need to do is heat up the metal in the furnace. This is very important as you cannot mold a cold metal; similarly, heating the metal for too long or non-proportionally will decrease the quality of the final product. Put the metal in the furnace, blow the furnace to heat it up quickly, and wait for the metal’s color to become light yellow.

If you are crafting a sword, you must move the metal around to make sure it heats up proportionally. For smaller metals like axes, you won’t need to move them around as the entire thing fits into the furnace at once.

Inspect the metal once it heats up to a light yellow color and see if you have sparks flying from it. If yes, then the metal is ready to be molded. Move to the anvil to start molding the metal into your desired weapon.

3. Molding the Metal on the Anvil

After you have heated up the metal on the furnace properly, it will be time to mold it on the anvil using your hammer. Hit the metal with your hammer and look for flying sparks on the hit. Use your mouse motion and the left click to hit the metal.

If you hear a ringing sound on a hit with flying sparks, the hit was a good one. Start hitting the metal from one end and slowly move to the other, placing each hit next to the other for greater efficiency.

After some time, turn the metal around and start hitting it the same way on the other side. Keep working on the metal, and you will see it taking shape. While hitting the sword with the hammer, it may become cold. When the metal starts becoming cold, take it back to the furnace to heat it and return to the anvil. You may need to make multiple turns like these until the weapon becomes ready.

While you are hitting the metal on the anvil, Henry will start whistling from time to time. When this happens, try to hit the hammer with the rhythm of the whistling. This dramatically decreases the time to forge the weapon and improves quality. Just keep a steady beat in your head while smashing with the hammers. If you do it correctly, Henry will continue whistling. If you miss your beat, Henry will stop whistling and may restart after some time.

4. Quench and Finish

Smashing the metal with the hammer on the anvil will take shape into the weapon you are crafting. Once the crafting is finished, you will get an option to Quench and Finish. Select it to heat the metal a final time and then cool it in the water to finish the process. Now, a tab will appear on your screen, showing what you have crafted, its value, and its stats.

So, that’s how you craft and forge weapons in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. The process may take some time but it is worthwhile crafting your own equipment, as it saves up money and can have better stats than the ones you purchase from shops.
