Xueyi Release Date and Upcoming Banner

Xueyi was released on December 27, 2023, in the first phase of Honkai Star Rail’s 1.6 banners. Her first banner rerun is still unknown and we will update it here once we find any information on it.

Xueyi’s Kit And Cycle Rotation (At Max Level)

With the information we have about her kit, Xueyi is going to be better as a sub-DPS than a carry. Let’s take a look at her kit to understand how to play her optimally with the best Xueyi build.

  • Mara-Sunder Awl (Basic Attack): It deals flat Quantum damage to a single enemy equal to 130% of Xueyi’s Attack.
  • Iniquity Obliteration (Skill): It deals blast Quantum damage equal to 170% of Xueyi’s Attack to the main target and 87.5% of her Attack to the adjacent targets.
  • Divine Castigation (Ultimate): It deals 300% of Xueyi’s Attack to a single enemy as Quantum damage. This attack ignores Weakness types and reduces the Toughness of the enemy. It triggers the Quantum Weakness Break effect when the enemy’s weakness is broken from this attack, irrespective of the weakness type. Additionally, the damage dealt is increased (max 75% increase) the more Toughness is reduced.
  • Karmic Perpetuation (Talent): Stacks Karma when Xueyi reduces enemies’ Toughness with attacks and more stacks are added the more Toughness is reduced (max 8 stacks). Once the Karma stack reaches max, launch a Follow-up attack against an enemy, dealing Quantum Damage equal to 112.5% of Xueyi’s Attack each time to a single enemy up to 3 times. This attack does not add Karma.
  • Summary Execution (Technique): Deals Quantum Damage equal to 80% of Xueyi’s Attack to all enemies after entering combat. This technique immediately attacks enemies on use.

Xueyi will have Single target, Blast, Bounce, and Follow-up attacks in her arsenal. She is currently the only character in Honkai Star Rail who can damage Toughness irrespective of the weakness type (excluding Ruan Mei’s technique).

Her kit is more inclined towards breaking weaknesses, and her primary damage will come from Break Effects and her Talent-triggered Follow-up attacks. The best way to play her will be to trigger her Talent by stacking up her Karma points using her Skill and Basic Attacks. The following is going to be her ideal cycle rotation:

Skill > Attack > Skill > Attack, and use her Ultimate to weakness break enemies at the earliest.

Best Xueyi Builds: Relics, Planar Ornaments & Sub Stats

As Xueyi features a diverse attack kit, she can go with many Relics and Planar Ornament sets. Here are her best Cavern Relics, Planar Ornaments, and main and sub stats.

Relics for Best Xueyi Build

  • 4-piece Genius of Brilliant Stars (Best for Xueyi)
  • 4-piece Thief of Shooting Meteor (Good for Weakness Breaking)
  • 4-piece Ashblazing Grand Duke (Buff to Follow-up Attacks)

The 4-piece Genius of Brilliant Stars is the best Relic set for Xueyi as it increases Quantum Damage by 10% and lets the wearer ignore up to 20% of enemy defenses.

The 4-piece Thief of Shooting Meteor is a good alternative as it increases the Break Effect by 32%. Another good alternative is the Ashblazing Grand Duke as it increases the Follow-up attack damage and that’s one of the main damage sources for Xueyi.

Planar Ornaments for Best Xueyi Build

  • 2-piece Talia: Kingdom of Banditry (Best for Xueyi)
  • 2-piece Inert Salsotto (Best Alternative)
  • 2-piece Rutilant Arena

The 2-piece Talia: Kingdom of Banditry is going to be the best Planar Ornament for Xueyi, as it buffs her Break Effect. But make sure you meet the 145-speed threshold to get the best out of it.

2-piece Inert Salsotto and Rutilant Arena are also good alternatives as they provide a good Crit rate buff.

Best Main and Sub Stats

RelicsMain / Sub-Stat
HeadHP / Attack % > Crit Damage = Crit Rate > Speed = Break Effect
HandsAttack / Attack % > Crit Damage = Crit Rate > Speed = Break Effect
BodyAttack % / Crit Damage = Crit Rate > Speed = Break Effect
FeetSpeed / Attack % > Crit Damage = Crit Rate > Break Effect
Planar SphereQuantum Damage Boost / Attack % > Crit Damage = Crit Rate > Speed = Break Effect
Link RopeAttack % / Crit Damage = Crit Rate > Speed = Break Effect
Xueyi Main and Sub Stats for her Relics and Planar Ornaments

Xueyi’s best stats are going to be Attack %, Speed, Crit Damage, and Crit Rate. Normally you would expect Break Effect to be equally important, but her traces and Eidolons give a good Break Effect Buff and you only need around 50% extra to reach the max 240% Break Effect damage buff from her Ascension 2 trace.

It’s better to stack Attack % as much as possible and to also make sure you meet the 145-speed threshold from the 2-piece Talia: Kingdom of Banditry.

Light Cones for Best Xueyi Build

  • Nowhere to Run (Best for Xueyi at S5): Increases Attack by 48% (48% at S1) and restores the HP of the wearer, each time they defeat an enemy, equal to 24% (12% at S1) of their Attack.
  • Something Irreplaceable (Best Alternative and 5* Light Cone for Xueyi): Increases Attack by 24%. Also, immediately restores HP equal to 8% of the wearer’s Attack when they defeat an enemy or is hit, additionally increasing the wearer’s Damage by 24% until the end of their next turn. This effect doesn’t stack and only triggers 1 time per turn.
  • On the Fall of Aeon (Best F2P Alternative at S5): Attack increases by 16% (8% at S1), each time the wearer attacks (max 4 stacks). When the wearer inflicts the weakness break, the wearer’s damage further increases by 24% (12% at S1) for 2 turns.

Nowhere to Run’ at Superimposition 5 is a clear winner for Xueyi as it increases attack by 48%. It’s also a 4-star Light Cone and more accessible to pull. Alternatively, if you have Clara’s signature Light Cone — ‘Something Irreplaceable’ — you can use it instead.

On the Fall of Aeon’ is the best F2P alternative if you haven’t pulled either of the above two Light Cones. It is available in the Herta shop and can be easily Superimposed to 5.

Xueyi has some great Eidolons that are worth getting. She is a 4* character, so getting her Eidolons would be much easier. Her E2 is a must-get as it allows Xueyi to consistently break the Toughness of any enemy, as she will use her Follow-up attacks often. Other than that, her E4 and E6 are good enough to invest if you plan to play her consistently.

Xueyi will mainly be a Sub-DPS, and her best team is a mono-quantum team with Seele, Silver Wolf, and Fu Xuan. You can also play her with Topaz and Ruan Mei to get the best out of her Follow-up attacks and Break Effects. Her best F2P team will be with Qingque, any free Harmony support like Tingyun, Pela, Yukong, and Asta, and a Sustain like Lynx, Natasha, or Fire MC.

Should You Pull for Xueyi in Honkai Star Rail?

Xueyi is a 4* character, so pulling for her won’t be comparatively as difficult. You should only pull for Xueyi if you want to pull the 5-Star character on her banner. She is a very strong Weakness Breaker and pairs well with Ruan Mei. As a standalone character, Qingque is a better F2P Quantum DPS than her.
