The Amphoreus storyline has started to unfold with the Honkai Star Rail 3.4 Trailblazing mission. This update may have answered a lot of questions for fans, but it also created an equal number of new doubts. With the latest update showing Phainon’s Khaslana form, which clearly possesses the power of Destruction, the question that likely pops into all of our minds is whether he is the Lord Ravager Irontomb imprisoned in Amphoreus. Here, we have discussed the answer you seek and explained in great detail whether Phainon is the Lord Ravager Irontomb in Honkai Star Rail.
Who is Lord Ravager Irontomb in Honkai Star Rail?

Lord Ravager Irontomb is one of the known Emanators of Destruction. This character is said to be the inverse of Nous, Aeon of Erudition. Irontomb is said to have powers that reverse logic and calculations, making it perfect for destroying Nous or Erudition. Since Irontomb is the opposite of Erudition, this Lord Ravager mainly targets technologically advanced worlds.
Worlds invaded by Lord Ravager Irontomb leave behind devastated civilizations without any eyewitnesses. It turns technology into viruses and plunges the world into darkness. So, now that you have a basic grasp of what Lord Ravager Irontomb is capable of, let’s understand its connection with Amphoreus.
Amphoreus and Irontomb’s Connection in Honkai Star Rail

In Honkai Star Rail 3.3, Lygus told Madame Herta that Amphoreus is holding a Lord Ravager as a prisoner, and letting her interfere would release it into the world. This Lord Ravager, who is imprisoned in Amphoreus, is none other than Irontomb itself.
Now, from what we have read above, it clearly shows that Irontomb is less a being and more of a phenomenon. An example of this is clearly seen in Amphoreus. The Black Tide is seen corrupting the entire land of Amphoreus, turning the people of the land into monsters and then using them to spread further. The Black Tide is either the power of Irontomb or Irontomb itself in Amphoreus.
In Honkai Star Rail 3.4’s Trailblazing mission, we learn that Amphoreus has been made to create or develop Irontomb, so that it can destroy Erudition. The entire story of the Flame Chasing journey and rebuilding the world in Era Nova is false. It is basically a program, likely created by Lygus, to develop the destructive nature of the Black Tide or Irontomb.
With that said, how does it all connect to Phainon?
Is Phainon the Lord Ravager Irontomb?
During the Honkai Star Rail 3.4 Trailblazing mission, it is revealed that Amphoreus has been stuck in a loop of endless Era Novas. This was not something programmed to happen, as the first entry to Era Nova was supposed to complete the Irontomb.
However, Cyrene and Phainon decided to intervene and extend the future of Amphoreus in the story. Cyrene attracted the gaze of Fuli, the Aeon of Remembrance, and used the Aeon’s powers to send Amphoreus into an endless loop of Era Novas.
To make sure this was properly executed each cycle, Phainon “Khaslana” decided to bear the burden of living through multiple cycles, making sure the world resets every time. This eventually led him to burn himself with the massive number of Coreflames he had to carry over 33,550,336 Eternal Recurrence. This eventually started to burn Phainon as he took the form of the Flame Reaver, channeling the powers of Destruction.

Now, Phainon “Khaslana” is clearly shown to possess the power of Destruction. However, nowhere has it yet been confirmed that Phainon is the Lord Ravager Irontomb. There is a possibility that Phainon will eventually become the vessel for Irontomb. This is understandable as, at the end of his journey, he would have burned all his humanity, leaving behind only a husk of careful calculations required to complete his objectives. That is what Irontomb is all about.
However, currently, we cannot say with certainty that Phainon is the Lord Ravager Irontomb, even though everything points towards it. As the existence of Lord Ravager Irontomb precedes Phainon in Honkai Star Rail, it makes no sense for Phainon to be Irontomb.
The only way this would make sense is if Irontomb requires a vessel each time it decides to invade, like a host of viruses. So, Phainon may be the chosen vessel this time around. But, these are simply theories, and we cannot confirm until more details are revealed about the Amphoreus storyline.
