Is Hysilens Worth Pulling? Pros and Cons

Before we talk about Hysilens’s build and kit, you need to know whether she is worth pulling or not. Here is a quick table with all the pros and cons of Hysilens in Honkai Star Rail:

ProsCons
Omni-DoT unitRequires Kafka to deal consistent damage
Strongest DoT character in the gameDoT is still the same, and won’t be the meta anytime soon
Revives DoT Team compsLess Toughness damage

Hysilens is worth pulling if you love DoT teams. She is currently the best DoT carry in the game and makes DoT teams viable again for the current meta. However, one major drawback of Hysilens is that you need Kafka to consistently trigger her damage. Without Kafka, I would suggest not going for Hysilens.

Why Does the Ocean Sing is the best Light Cone for Hysilens in Honkai Star Rail. It provides big Effect Hit Rate and DoT damage buffs that are too good to pass. Next, Black Swan’s signature Light Cone Reforged Remembrance is best 5-star alternative for Hysilens. This Light Cone also provides good Effect Hit Rate and increases DoT damage.

For 4-star options, you can use Eyes of the Prey, Good Night and Sleep Well for Hysilens. If you don’t have them, then use It’s Showtime, but it won’t give any additional Effect Hit Rate.

Should I Get Hysilens’s Signature Light Cone?

Hysilens’s signature Light Cone — Why Does the Ocean Sing, is currently the best DoT Light Cone in the game. This 5-star Nihility Light Cone increases Effect Hit Rate by 40% and increases the DoT damage taken enemies based on the number of debuffs applied on them. Furthermore, this Light Cone also increases the Speed of any ally that attacks an enemy inflicted with a debuff by 10%.

If you like DoT teams and have many DoT characters, then Hysilens’s Signature Light Cone is definitely worth getting. This Light Cone has also become the best in-slot for Kafka now, overtaking her own signature Light Cone.

The Prisoner in Deep Confinement is currently the only DoT relic set in Honkai Star Rail, making it the best choice for Hysilens. This is the only relic you should pick for Hysilens, unless you have terrible sub-stats on them.

The Champion of Streetwise Boxing is a decent option as well, but you won’t get the DoT damage increase with this relic set. Only use it if the sub-stats are incredibly good for Hysilens.

Revelry by the Sea is the best planar ornament for Hysilens. This ornament increases the ATK and DoT damage of the equipping character, making it perfect for Hysilens’s kit.

Now, if your sub-stat don’t meet the Effect Hit Rate goal given below for Hysilens, then you can use the Pan-Cosmic Commercial Enterprise planar ornament for increased Effect Hit Rate.

Firmament Frontline: Glamoth is also a good ornament for Hysilens if you have built her with high Speed.

StatRecommended ValuePriority
Effect Hit Rate120%High
ATK3500High
Speed134+Medium

The main stats for Hysilens are Effect Hit Rate and ATK. Try to hit 120% Effect Hit Rate to maximize your DoT application and Hysilens’s passives. Next, try to hit between 3000 to 3500 ATK, as that’s the main scaling stat for her. Finally, you can go for a 134 Speed on Hysilens to hit the first Speed Breakpoint.

Do not run after Crit Rate or Crit Damage as DoT doesn’t Crit in normal game modes of Honkai Star Rail.

Honkai Star Rail Hysilens’s Best Teams

Hysilens only shines in DoT teams and Kafka is almost a constant for all of her teams. The third and fourth slots can be changed, but the first ally should always be Kafka if you have her. For her Sustains, you can use Gallagher, Huohuo, Aventurine or Hyacine. Gallagher is my favorite pick for this team because of his SP positive nature.

If you don’t have Black Swan, then you can instead opt for a Harmony support. Robin is the clear favorite for this position as she can action forward the entire team, letting Hysilens apply more DoTs on enemies. Ruan Mei and Tribbie can also be a good option for this position.
