No indie game has as much excitement and hype around it as Hollow Knight Silksong. The follow-up to Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight plans to deliver gameplay fans and newcomers will find extremely fun! However, the one thing we haven’t learned much about yet is the Silksong release date. If you’re part of the gamers excited to know about the Hollow Knight Silksong release date, keep reading as we tell you what we know.
When Will Hollow Knight Silksong Release?
Unfortunately, there currently is no confirmed Silksong release date that we know of. When the game was initially revealed in 2019, many expected the game to launch within the first three or four years.
Earlier, the developers were remarkably silent about Hornet’s adventures in the upcoming game. Then, we heard about the game again in the 2022 Xbox Showcase, where they showcased a new trailer and confirmed the game coming to Xbox Game Pass.
However, one Silksong developer already changed their X profile picture to a cake. Once you reverse search the image, it shows a website with the date April 2, 2025. This is the same date as the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2. Could it be the day when the Hollow Knight Silksong release date is announced? Although the other Team Cherry members denied it, there is a chance we see the announcement pretty soon.
Furthermore, Matthew Griffin, the marketing guy for Hollow Knight Silksong, explains that the company’s initial plan to release the game was in the first half of 2023. However, the development is ongoing, and they opted not to launch the game. This was confirmed after Matthew Griffin replied to a fan on January 18, 2025, saying “Yes the game is real, progressing and will release. <3”.
Hollow Knight Silksong Expected Release Date
So, when can we expect a solid Silksong release date? Looking at previous developments, it can be a little easier to piece together. The game was initially scheduled for an early 2023 release date. This means the game might be pretty deep into production for the last few years to even aim for that. However, given the development dragged out, it got postponed.
If we look at Hollow Knight’s development period, it took Team Cherry around four years, including the Kickstarter, to develop and release Hollow Knight to the world. Hence, taking such a long time is normal for the game.
If things go well, we should expect a Q1 or early Q2 2025 Hollow Knight Silksong release date. Of course, this is based on a general guess, and since we are already closing in on the first month of 2025, I don’t think Team Cherry will want to pit Hollow Knight Silksong without sharing enough glimpses of it. With the cryptic messages coming now, I think they are very deep into the development, and it should launch by this year.
