Ghost of Yotei, the highly anticipated follow-up to 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima, finally has a release date. The announcement was paired with a brand-new trailer that showcases new cinematics, combat footage, and breathtaking vistas.
The title was first revealed during a State of Play presentation that aired back in September 2024. The first look ended with a vague ‘2025’ title card, which had fans hatching up all sorts of theories surrounding its potential release date. Sony has effectively ended all that speculation, while throwing the gauntlet down to Rockstar’s GTA 6, which is also aiming for a Q4 2025 release.
As for the newly revealed trailer, it dives into the motives of our protagonist, Atsu. The newest ‘Ghost’ is hot on the trail of the Yōtei Six, a gang of Outlaws that ravaged her home and killed her parents. Unfortunately for them, they failed to get the job done, and now Atsu is carrying a parchment with six names, like she’s Arya Stark. You can probably put the rest together.
Sucker Punch has confirmed that players can freely pick which of the six targets to pursue first. They can also take on dangerous bounties or seek out the weapon sensei during the downtime between each target.
Besides this, the trailer provided a glimpse at some new weapons, combat animations, and our wolf companion sinking its teeth into an enemy. It was also packed with some gorgeous environments, featuring the dynamic wind physics that wowed players from the first game.
Ghost of Yotei releases on October 2, 2025. Crucially, Sony also revealed some pricing details. The Ghost of Yotei’s Standard Edition costs $70, while its Digital Deluxe Edition costs $80. For the extra price, players will receive bonuses, including The Snake’s armor set, a unique horse color and saddle dye, an in-game Charm, and a Gold Sword kit.
