Fossil unveiled its Gen 5 smartwatch last month, and the company is now planning to launch it in India pretty soon. The device will be available for purchase on Amazon, as confirmed by a promo page for the site’s upcoming Great Indian Festival sale (see screenshot below). While there’s no word on when the sale will go live, it will very likely happen later this month to coincide with Flipkart’s upcoming Big Billion Days.
As a refresher, the Fossil Gen 5 was announced last month, and is currently available for purchase from the official Fossil website for £279 (around Rs 25,000) in the UK. There’s no word on how it will be priced in India, but we expect to get more info in the coming days.
It is available in two different dial styles, paired with three strap options each. There’s the Carlyle HR model (on the left) available in Smoke Stainless Steel, Black Silicone and Dark Brown Leather, while the Julianna HR variant (on the right) ships with Rose Gold Stainless Steel, Blush Leather and Stainless Steel options.
The Fossil Gen 5 runs WearOS by Google (formerly Android Wear) and comes with premium hardware. It is powered by the Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. Sensors include accelerometer, altimeter, ambient Light, gyroscope and heart rate, while connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, Wi-Fi and GPS. It is also water-resistant up to 3ATM and comes with a microphone and a speaker to enable users to take calls and interact with Google Assistant.
