Fortnite April Fools Update 40.10 Downtime Details
After a scheduled downtime of 3-4 hours on April 1, 2026, at 4 AM ET, Fortnite’s April Fools update 40.10 is now live on all available devices. Fortnite April Fools Update Today Full Patch Notes for 40.10
With the 40.10 update being the first major patch for Chapter 7 Season 2, it is mostly related to cosmetics, collaborations, and the April Fools event. Here’s everything Epic has added with this new update:
Fortnite OG Season 8

Easily the biggest highlight of the 40.10 update is the release of Fortnite OG Season 8, taking players back to the pirate-themed madness of Chapter 1 Season 8. The release of the new OG season brings back iconic POIs like the Volcano and Lazy Lagoon to the northeastern corner of the OG map. Additionally, Epic has also added OG pirate items like the Flint-Knock Pistol and Pirate Cannons to the loot pool, with other Season 8 items like the Ballers being added later in the season.
The release of a new OG season brings a new OG Pass, featuring remixed versions of classic skins from the Chapter 1 Season 8 Battle Pass. Here are the skins players can unlock through the OG Season 8 Pass:
- Pyreheart (Blackheart Remix)
- Synthesis (Hybrid Remix)
- Luxe Patroller (Lux Remix)
April Fools Update (Big Head Mode)

For the annual April Fools’ celebration, Epic Games has added a big head mode to Fortnite Battle Royale with the 40.10 update. This exclusive update will last for only 24 hours, running from April 1, 2026, 5:30 AM ET to April 2, 2026, 5:30 AM ET. The April Fools’ event will include the following features during matches:
- Big Heads: Players will have enlarged heads during matches.
- Finger Guns: New weapons that allow you to blast enemies with your fingers.
- Llama Riding: You can find Rideable Llamas all around the Chapter 7 map.
- Fall Damage Immunity: Instead of taking damage when falling from high heights, players make a splat sound.
- Shoulder Riding: You can ride on teammates’ shoulders, with more than 1 stack possible at a time. The stack can go as high as you want, as long as you can maintain it.
Fortnite dev Ted Timmins has suggested that features like Llama Riding and Shoulder Riding could stick around for the entire season if the feedback is positive enough.
Brainrot Skins

Straying away from the OG mode, Epic will also be adding the long-awaited brainrot skins to the Fortnite Item Shop to celebrate April Fool’s Day. As of now, only Tung Tung Tung Sahur and Ballerina Cappuccina are confirmed for release. These skins have been added to the files with the Fortnite 40.10 update, and will be released in the Item Shop soon, along with matching pickaxes and weapon wraps.
Battle Pass Super Styles

The 40.10 update also unlocks the Super Styles in the Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 Battle Pass. The new styles for the following skins will now be available through the Battle Pass:
- The Order (Reforged)
- Squibbly
- Lady Winterfrost
- Exalted Ice King
- Elite Jules
It is important to remember that players will only be able to unlock these styles after they have completed the base Showdown Battle Pass, giving them something to grind for even after reaching season level 100.
Balance Changes
With the release of the 40.10 update, Epic has made the following tweaks to Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2:
- Chaos Reloader Shotgun:
- Reduced body shot damage.
- Made reload speed consistent across all rarities.
- Mythic damage is now the same as the Legendary rarity.
- Twin Mag SMG:
- Decreased spread when firing, jumping, sprinting, and sliding.
- Increased spread when crouching.
- Added Text-to-Speech and Speech-to-Text for English. You can now have chat messages read aloud or dictate your own via the ‘Communication’ settings.
- Resolved a bug where Slapperoni Pizza could grant the Slap effect without being consumed.
- Using the Particle Accelerator with Overdrive Grenades will no longer clip you under the map.
- Ziplines near Latte Landing have been stabilized to prevent accidental (and lethal) “super launches.”
- Fixed gray placeholders on the Season X Umbrella and missing textures on Pickaxes after being rebooted.
- Fixed clipping on Axo’s “Midnight” style and corrected Hades’ facial animations during the Underworld Anger Emote.
- The Overlay Contrail is back in your inventory, and Gliders will no longer swap your styles or hide your Back Bling.
- Reload Mode: Morphite weapons now accurately display their ammo counts on the Quick Bar.
Adam Smasher Skin (Cyberpunk 2077)

With the release of the 40.10 update, Epic has finally added files for the long-awaited Adam Smasher skin as part of the Fortnite Cyberpunk 2077 collab. The skin was first teased a while ago and was supposed to come out on March 24, 2026, but was delayed for unknown reasons. Now, players have gotten their first look at the in-game skin, which will be available in the Fortnite Item Shop soon.
Arenas Mode

Epic Games is also gearing up for the release of the long-awaited Arenas mode with the release of the Fortnite 40.10 update. This new mode, serving as an official boxfight mode from Epic, will allow players to compete in close-quarters combat in either 1v1 situations or 16-player matches. The mode will release on April 9, 2026, and will also feature some free rewards that players can obtain by completing quests in the mode.
New Rift Anomalies
The 40.10 update has also introduced some new Fortnite Rift Anomalies to Chapter 7 Season 2. While not much is known about how exactly these new anomalies will function, here is a list of all the new anomalies in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2:
- Item Cache
- Llama Anomaly
- Random Buffs (Infinite Ammo, Super Sprint, Unstoppable, Vulture)
Toy Story Collab

Epic has also finally added files related to the Fortnite Toy Story collab with the release of the 40.10 update. The collab has been hinted at through leaks for a while, and it seems to be finally materialising. The Toy Story crossover will feature the following skins:
- Buzz Lightyear
- Zurg
- Woody
Much like the recently released Fortnite Game of Thrones skins, players will have a chance to earn the Buzz Lightyear and Zurg skins for free through Showdown Series Cups. If players manage to rank high enough in the Showdown cups, they will be granted these skins, along with other matching cosmetics, for free.
Fortnite Save The World 40.10 Patch Notes

The release of the 40.10 update also brings new additions to Fortnite Save The World. Epic will soon be adding the Scurvy Shoals Venture Season to Save The World, which will run from April 2, 2026, to June 17, 2026. Here is everything new added with the latest update:

LEGO Fortnite Odyssey 40.10 Patch Notes

Epic has also made multiple changes to the LEGO Fortnite Odyssey mode, including new content as well as minor bug fixes. Here’s everything new added with the 40.10 update:
- New Boss: Start the quest when you log into LEGO Odyssey to meet Captain Flintlocke at the NINJAGO Island Airship Dock. He’ll guide you to a misty island where a formidable boss awaits.
- Zeppelin Balloon: A new streamlined flight experience that benefits from Epic’s new changes to drag forces, which make all vehicles faster.
- Katana: A new weapon that allows you to slash your way through enemies and also parry attacks.
- Wolves are less formidable now, as they have lower health and deal less damage.
- Consumables now stay put and won’t auto-slot to the far-right of your hotbar.
- You are more likely to run into larger stacks of Unknowable Energy.
Fortnite Mobile Improvements
Epic has also deployed the following improvements for Fortnite on mobile:
